Student A : welcome aboard student A, I’m nurse in emergency department, what
about
You?
Student B : I’m physiotherapist in physiotherapy department. How long have you been
working there?
Student A : I’ve been working here for 5 years
Hope you enjoy your new job here
Student B : I hope so too. Thank you
Situation 2
Student A : Hello. Good morning.

I’m nurse. A
I’m in critical Care departement at Siloam Hospital Jakarta

Student B : Hi. Pleased to meet you nurse A.


I’m a doctor at Sydney general hospital in Sydney australia.
I’m in cardiact care departement.

Student A : Pleased to meet you too, doctor.

Student B : So, you are working in critical Care departement . How long
have you been working in this unit?

Student A : About 3 years. What about you? How long have you been
working in cardiact care departement ?

Student B : Just 6 years. Nice talking to you, student A.


Well, we have to go back to the seminar room. The seminar
will start again in 5 minutes.

Topic 2. Meeting your patient


Student A : hello good morning ma’am. I am Nurse A , but you can just call me A. I’ll be
looking after you this morning until 15.00

Student B : Good morning, Nurse A


Student A : May I know your name, Ma’am and your date of birth for confirmation?
Student B : My name is B. Just call me B. My date of birth is july 2, 1985.
Student A : Okay, B. How are you feeling today, Ma’am?
Student B : Not so good, actually. I couldn’t sleep well last night because my back is really
aching.

Student A : I see.  Your back is aching? Which part?


Student B : This part of my back.
Student A : Okay. Let me do an observation on you now. Would that be alright?
Student B : Sure, go ahead
Student A : There you go, B. Are you feeling much better, now?
Student B : Much better, thank you, A.
Student A : I’ll talk to the doctor and we will discuss the best treatment for you.
Student B : Thank you.
Student A : Well, nice talking to you today, B. I need to go now to see other patients. If you
need me, just press this bell and I will come as quickly as I can.

Student B : Okay. Thanks.

Situation 2

Topic 3. Wound care


Situation 1

Nurse : Good morning, Mrs. A. , I’m nurse A I’ll take care you of today. First I will check your ID band. Can
you mention your name and date of birth ?

Patient : february 16, 1980

Nurse : (1) How are you feeling today?

Patien : Much better, thank you.

Nurse : That’s great. Your wound is dry and healing fast. So, I think, when you get home, you can do it
yourself. Please do it once a day.
Patien : I don’t know if I can do it by myself.

Nurse : Don’t worry. Ma’am. You can do it. (2) I’m going to show you how to do it in simple steps.
Patien : Okay, then. Let’s begin.

Nurse : First of all, always remember to wash your hands before you change your dressing with soap and
water, or hand sanitizer. If you use hand sanitizer, (3) You do it like this. Now, you try.
