Single-Season experiences are outstanding short stories. If the

idea of being an anime fanatic offends you, these are the
shows that are low commitment yet narratively gripping.

Multi-Season is a similar list meant for the moment when

you're ready to conquer a long-form narrative arc.

time. Following a group of bounty hunters who
hop across the Solar System in their ship, the
Bebop, the show navigates ideas of existentialism Crunchyroll
and the search to belong amidst a collection of
misfits. Described as a blend of sci-fi cyberpunk,
Western, and neo-noir, the series is a chaotic mix
of unexpecting and exciting.

The show is easily binge-able, with 26 half-hour

episodes in one compact season. Gaining a score
of 100 on Rotten Tomatoes, Cowboy Bebop is
easily accessible yet universally acclaimed, perfect
for those looking to enter the world of anime.

DEATH NOTE
 Another classic series that put anime on the map,
Death Note is a broody crime thriller that tinkers
with life, mortality, and the idea of justice at the
hands of karma. Light Yagami is a young vigilante
who comes across the Death Note, a book in
which any name inscribed will face death.

Alongside a Shinigami spirit (Grim Reaper

equivalent), what Light does with the Death Note is
a critical commentary on personal ethics and how
power and ego influence the role of playing God.
With elements of horror and thriller, the series
entices viewers with just enough emotional
damage to keep coming back. Yet another series
with a perfect Rotten Tomatoes rating, Death Note
is a twisted, mind-bending game of cat and mouse.

One of the best animes Netflix has created,

Devilman Crybaby (2018) is not for the faint of
heart with its gratuitous violent and sexual
content. Undeterred by a much-debated ending
and unusual animation style, the avant-garde
supernatural horror anime series garnered masses
of fans due to its superb storytelling, inclusive
characters, and faithfulness to the manga.

Genre:
Based on Go Nagai's manga, Devilman, the series
Dark Fantasy, Action, takes place in the 21st century rather than its
Superhero Fiction original setting of the 70s. It centers around Akira
Fudou, who accidentally merges with the devil
Amon and gains diabolical powers to defeat other
demons, despite still possessing a crybaby's heart

 Erased follows the Story of Satoru Fujinuma, a 29 year old aspiring
manga artist with the ability to travel backwards in time to prevent
terrible things from happening. After the murder of a loved one, he is
launched back further in time than he has ever gone to prevent the
tragedy from taking place.

 Attention all cat-lovers and introverts! Because
My Roommate Is A Cat (2019) is definitely not
an anime series to miss out on.
The slice-of-life anime details the budding
relationship between Subaru Mikazuki, a
socially-awkward mystery novel author, and a
stray cat he ends up taking home called Haru.
After the death of his parents from a car
accident, Mikazuki becomes increasingly
withdrawn from society, but having Haru in his
life makes his view of the world much less
intimidating.

Eccentric and blunt, the walrus Hiroshi Odokawa
lives a relatively normal life. He drives a taxi for a
living, and there he meets several unique
individuals: the jobless Taichi Kabasawa who is
dead-set on going viral, the mysterious nurse
Miho Shirakawa, the struggling comedic duo
"Homo Sapiens," and Dobu, a well-known
delinquent.

But Odokawa's simple way of life is about to be

turned upside down. The case of a missing girl the
police have been tracking leads back to him, and
now both the yakuza and a duo of corrupt cops
are on his tail.

ONE OUTS
 The 2008 sports anime's tagline "Nobody wins but
I" perfectly sums up the series' main highlight and
anti-hero Toua Tokuchi. One Outs (2008)
perfectly balances baseball and sports gambling by
constantly pitching prodigy Tokuchi against
baseball players of various backgrounds in one-
to-one showdowns called "One Outs".

Tokuchi's skills unwittingly landed him a spot on a

mediocre baseball team albeit under a special
contract: pitching an out will earn him five million
yen whilst giving up a run will cost him fifty.
Audiences will be entertained by One Outs for
Tokuchi's ingenious ways to outsmart his
opponents and exceed the audience's expectations.

 PARANOIA AGENT
Satoshi Kon is a master at offering audiences
mind-bending stories that would give Christopher
Nolan and David Lynch a run for their money.
Aside from a celebrated filmography including
Perfect Blue (1997) and Tokyo Godfathers (2003),
Kon's only TV anime contribution - Paranoia
Agent (2004) is a suspenseful and mentally-
tormenting creation equivalent to its film.

The psychological-horror anime series follows a

series of victims who were allegedly attacked by a
juvenile nicknamed "shounen bat" or "lil slugger'.
Each victim eventually becomes the focus of the
story, shedding light on their secret lives and
unspoken troubles.

PERFECT BLUE

J-pop idol group CHAM! has spent the last two years entertaining its fans.
Sadly, all good things must come to an end, and CHAM! must see one of its
members, Mima Kirigoe, leave the group to pursue her acting career. While
Mima's choice is met with a mixed response, she hopes her fans will continue
to support her.

However, Mima's life begins to change drastically after her departure from
the group. Wanting to shed her pop-idol image, she takes on a role in a crime
drama series, and her career as an actress gradually becomes more
demanding and taxing for both Mima and her manager, Rumi Hidaka. To add
to Mima's growing unease, an obsessed fan who is incapable of accepting that
Mima has quit being an innocent idol, begins stalking her; a new anonymous
website begins to impersonate her life with intricate detail; and CHAM! also
appears to be doing better without her. One by one, each disturbing
development drives Mima to become increasingly unhinged and unable to
distinguish reality from fantasy

The seemingly normal life of Sakuta Azusagawa, a

high school student changes drastically when he

Puberty Syndrome-a rumored, mysterious

syndrome that only affects those in their puberty.
For example, a bunny girl suddenly appeared in
front of Sakuta Azusagawa. The bunny girl's real
identity is Mai Sakurajima, a teenage celebrity who
is currently an inactive high school senior. For
some reason, her charming figure does not reflect
in the eyes of others.

In the course of revealing the mystery behind this

phenomenon, Sakuta begins to explore his feelings
towards Mai. Set in a city where the skies and seas
shine, Sakuta unfolds the meaning behind his
bizarre encounters on women with the said
syndrome.

SAMURAI CHAMPLOO
 From the same creators of Cowboy Bebop (1998)
and Terror In Resonance (2004), the 2004 samurai
action anime series is the only anime to ever
combine the idea of traditional Japanese sword-
fighting with a styling hip-hop soundtrack.

Samurai Champloo oversees the journey of a trio

of peculiar individuals who set on a journey to
find a samurai that smells of sunflowers. Their
expedition is not always smooth-sailing as the tea
waitress Fuu always has to keep the wanton
outlaw Mugen and taciturn ronin Jin from killing
each other.

 Released in late 2016, Yuri!!! On Ice (2016) becomes
a runaway hit mainly for viewers' fervent
reception surrounding its same-sex relationship
between promising Japanese figure skater Yuri
Katsuki and his Russian mentor Victor Nikiforov,
albeit some critics have deemed it unrealistic.

Praised for its meticulously-executed

choreography and depiction of anxiety, the anime
is assuringly exceptional in providing a window
for fans interested in the world of figure skating,
especially in the modern setting of overt social
media exposure.

TITAN
 The series explores darker and heavier themes,
depicting a violent dystopia where humanity has
walled off cities in a war with colossal, flesh-
eating Titans. Gritty and heart-stopping, Attack on
Titan is a mental challenge that takes viewers on
an emotional rollercoaster.

Visually unlike anything else, Attack on Titan

sports a more graphic aesthetic, where the
uncanny humanoid titans and their barbaric
nature border disturbing more than intriguing. As
violent and brutal as the show may be, its well-
rounded nature and near-perfect acclaim have
won many over as a modern classic.

fights and one-too-many sexual innuendos,
Bleach is a smug teenager’s fantasy.

For a series that covers many themes rooted in

graphic and heavy material, it still manages to
have a tongue-in-cheek air about it. Bleach may
run for a lengthy 366 episodes, but is a reliant and
essential viewing for those digging their teeth into
anime culture.

CODE GEASS
In the year 2010, the Holy Empire
of Britannia is establishing itself
as a dominant military nation,
starting with the conquest of
Japan. Renamed to Area 11 after
its swift defeat, Japan has seen

regain independence.

Lelouch Lamperouge, a
Britannian student, unfortunately
finds himself caught in a crossfire
between the Britannian and the
Area 11 rebel armed forces. He is
able to escape, however, thanks
to the timely appearance of a
mysterious girl named C.C., who
bestows upon him Geass, the
"Power of Kings." Realizing the
vast potential of his newfound
"power of absolute obedience,"
Lelouch embarks upon a perilous
journey as the masked vigilante
known as Zero, leading a

 A family is attacked by demons and only two

members survive - Tanjiro and his sister Nezuko,
who is turning into a demon slowly. Tanjiro sets
out to become a demon slayer to avenge his family
and cure his sister.

The record-breaking Demon Slayer has blown up

tremendously in the last few years and it’s not too
surprising to those that have followed the series up
until now. Every single episode of Demon Slayer is
consistently impressive with smooth animation
that never compromises its gorgeous art, incredible
visual effects that bring the spectacular battles to
life, and an amazing soundtrack that punctuates its
many emotional high points.

Not only that, Demon Slayer will make you laugh

out loud thanks to the over-the-top absurdity of
characters like Zentisu and Inosuke, and it’ll just as
easily make you tear up with its heavy themes of
loss and family.

monsters. Before becoming a Hunter,

handicapped or worse, deceased.

Ambitious participants who challenge

the notorious exam carry their own
reason. What drives 12-year-old Gon
Freecss is finding Ging, his father and a
Hunter himself. Believing that he will
meet his father by becoming a Hunter,
Gon takes the first step to walk the
same path.

exorcise a demon he consumed, Jujutsu Kaisen
also comments on deeper links between the soul
and the body.

As a gripping dark fantasy, this series is perfect for

fans of the occult. Supplying an array of stunning
animation, compelling characters, and gory fight
scenes, Jujutsu Kaisen is suited for beginners
entering the modern generation of anime. Viewers
looking to sample the show could enjoy its prequel
in film form, Jujutsu Kaisen 0. Expect season 2 of
Jujutsu Kaisen to be released in 2023.

Dr. Kenzou Tenma, an elite neurosurgeon recently
engaged to his hospital director's daughter, is well

to switch patients and instead perform life-saving

cerebral adventure on time travel, exploring the
classic theory that something altered in the past
will change its future. Situated in the gadgety
Japanese district of Akihabara, three friends tip-
toe into the future and send text messages back
into the past to adjust their fates.

When one slip up can trigger an entire butterfly

effect, the choices made in Steins;Gate is nothing
short of anxiety-inducing. The show is a heartfelt
thrill containing complex character dynamics and
requires viewers to use active thinking.

The protagonist, Cho Soran, leads a very common
college student’s life until he finds himself caught
up in a terrible incident that happened in a small
village. As he was walking through a graveyard,
Cho Soran is assaulted by zombies. Thinking that it

sword suddenly saves him and disappears. This
strange encounter is going to change drastically
the fate of our hero.

Young Thorfinn grew up listening to the stories

of old sailors that had traveled the ocean and
reached the place of legend, Vinland. It's said to
be warm and fertile, a place where there would
be no need for fighting—not at all like the frozen
village in Iceland where he was born, and
certainly not like his current life as a mercenary.
War is his home now. Though his father once
told him, "You have no enemies, nobody does.
There is nobody who it's okay to hurt," as he
grew, Thorfinn knew that nothing was further
from the truth.

The war between England and the Danes grows

worse with each passing year. Death has become
commonplace, and the viking mercenaries are
loving every moment of it. Allying with either
side will cause a massive swing in the balance of
power, and the vikings are happy to make names
for themselves and take any spoils they earn
along the way. Among the chaos, Thorfinn must
take his revenge and kill Askeladd, the man who
murdered his father. The only paradise for the
vikings, it seems, is the era of war and death that
rages on.
