Notice for choice of GEC for Semester-II

All Semester II students (except for those in BA Programme) please note that they have to choose
their Generic Elective Course (GEC) by filling a Google form, the link for which is given below.
The last date for filling the Google forms is 27.03.2023.

GEC link: https://forms.gle/jjVX32DSJmr2s6rb9

A separate link for the BA (Programme) students will be notified later.

Please note the following points:

 The students should carefully fill the form because this form can be submitted only once. Care
should be taken in correctly mentioning the name, college roll number, e-mail id and phone
number (please provide an active phone number).
 Students are advised to provide three choices of GE courses in order of preference. Though our
attempt will be to provide the student’s first choice, we may not always be able to do so, given the
number of applicants in a course. (The list of the GECs offered by the college is available as a
dropdown list in the form as well as at the end of this notice.)
 The choice of GE course in any semester is independent of the choices made in the earlier
semester(s). All students should fill the form irrespective of whether they intend to choose the
same subject as their GE, as in the last semester, or not.
 The Generic Elective course cannot be the one offered by the student’s own department(s) that is
cannot be one belonging to the student’s honours or core discipline(s). For example, an Economic
(Honours) student cannot take Economics Generic Elective Course. Similarly, a B.Com student
cannot take the Commerce GEC. Further, a BSc Programme students cannot take any GEC
belonging to any of the core disciplines in their respective programme. For example, a student of
BSc programme with Chemistry cannot take Physics, Chemistry or Mathematics as their GEC.
 The students of B.Com Programme will compulsorily have a GE English course “English
Language through Literature” in Semester 2. But they nevertheless require to fill this form.
However, a few B.Com students (mostly foreign students), who had taken the GE English course
in Semester 1, will now have to select their preferences from the common pool of GEs. They may
inform their three preferences to the GE Committee by e-mailing to gekmc20@gmail.com
(please mention name, college roll number, phone number, and the GE preferences).
 If a student fails to submit the online form by the notified last date, she/he may be allotted a
course at the discretion of the college.
