ORAL COMMUNICATION IMPROMPTU QUESTIONS

Anxiety
 It's your brain's way of reacting to stress and alerting you of potential danger ahead.
Everyone feels anxious now and then. For example, you may worry when faced with a problem
at school, before taking a test, or before making an important decision. Feeling nervous, restless
or tense. The symptoms of anxiety are having a sense of impending danger, panic or doom, having an
increased heart rate, breathing rapidly, sweating, trembling, feeling weak or tired etc. To calm ourselves
we should breathe, close your eyes and count to 10 slowly, listen to calming music, or exercise your
body,  your mind, and spirit.
Poverty

 The struggle to meet basic needs, including having limited access to food, clothing, healthcare,
education, shelter and safety. I’ll give you some causes of poverty in Philippinessuch as low to moderate
economic growth for the past 40 years, low growth elasticity of poverty reduction, weakness in
employment generation and the quality of jobs generated, failure to fully develop the agriculture sector,
high inflation during crisis periods, high levels of population growth, high and persistent levels of
inequality (incomes and assets), which dampen the positive impacts of economic expansion, and
recurrent shocks and exposure to risks such as economic crisis, conflicts, natural disasters,and
"environmental poverty."

Sexual Harassment

 It is unlawful to harass a person (an applicant or employee) because of that person's sex. It
is illegal for people to harass others of their own sex, religion, race, color, national origin, or religion. Stay
the course. Many women don’t feel like they can report harassment, or don’t want to, because
of legitimate concerns about pushback or retaliation . Tell the harasser to stop. Do this either as it
happens or in a later conversation. Be clear and specific about the behavior that is making you
uncomfortable. Build solidarity. Connect with others who you think might have been mistreated or
harassed at work. Talk to a lawyer. Even if you don’t want to file a lawsuit, it may be useful to talk to a
lawyer who specializes in employment law to help you better understand your options .

COVID 19

 The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a new strain of coronavirus. This
new virus and disease were unknown before the outbreak began in Wuhan, China, in December 2019. On
January 30, 2020, the Department of Health reported the first case of COVID-19 in the country with a 38-
year-old female Chinese national. On March 7th, the first local transmission of COVID-19 was confirmed.
Months since then, the country’s COVID-19 cases are nearing 400,000. Most common symptoms; Fever,
cough, tiredness, loss of taste or smell. Less common symptoms; sore throat; headache, aches and
pains, diarrhea, a rash on skin, or discolouration of fingers or toes, red or irritated eyes.

Deforestation

 The clearing or thinning of forests by humans. Deforestation represents one of the largest issues

What are the effects of Deforestation in our Environment? Loss of Habitat, Increased Greenhouse
Gases, Soil Erosion and Flooding etc. How can we Reduce and Prevent Deforestation? We just need
to Plant a tree,  Use less paper, Recycle paper and cardboard ,  Use recycled products ,  Buy only
sustainable wood products ,  Don’t buy products containing palm oil ,  Reduce meat consumption , Do
not burn firewood excessively , Practice eco-forestry ,  Raise awareness,  Respect the rights of
indigenous people ,  Support organizations fighting deforestation ,  Join a community forestry project ,
Help restore degraded forests , Fight governmental corruption .

LGBTQ+
 LGBT and LGBTQIA+ are acronyms used to describe the community of people who don’t identify as
heterosexual, straight, or cisgender. LGBTQ + stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender,
queer, questioning, intersex, pansexual, two-spirit, asexual, and ally. Gender identity is how a
person feels and who they know them self to be when it comes to their gender. Gender can be
complex and people are defining themselves in new and different ways as we gain a deeper
understanding of identities. However, gender isn’t about someone’s anatomy, it is about who
they know them self to be. 

Discrimination
 Discrimination is the unfair or prejudicial treatment of people and groups based on
characteristics such as race, gender, age or sexual orientation . Indeed, perceived discrimination has
been linked to issues including anxiety, depression, obesity, high blood pressure and substance abuse .
Healthy ways to deal with discrimination ; Focus on your strengths. Focusing on your core values, beliefs
and perceived strengths can motivate people to succeed, Seek support systems. Family and friends can
remind you of your worth and help you reframe those faulty beliefs, Get involved. Get involved with like-
minded groups and organizations, whether locally or online. It can help to know there are other people
who have had similar experiences to yours. Help yourself think clearly. Being the target of discrimination
can stir up a lot of strong emotions including anger, sadness and embarrassment, Seek professional help.
Psychologists are experts in helping people manage symptoms of stress and depression, and can help you
find healthy ways to cope.

Corruption
 Corruption is dishonest behavior by those in positions of power. Corruption erodes the trust we have in
the public sector to act in our best interests. It also wastes our taxes or rates that have been earmarked
for important community projects . The Philippines suffers from widespread corruption.  Such corruption
risks are rampant throughout the state's judicial system, police service, public services, land
administration, and natural resources. Examples of corruption in the Philippines include graft, bribery,
favouritism, nepotism, impunity, embezzlement, extortion, racketeering, fraud, tax evasion, lack of
transparency, lack of sufficient enforcement of laws and government policies, and consistent lack of
support for human rights.

Depression
 It is a common and serious medical illness that negatively affects how you feel, the way you think
and how you act. Depression causes feelings of sadness and/or a loss of interest in activities you
once enjoyed. It can lead to a variety of emotional and physical problems and can decrease your
ability to function at work and at home. What are the causes of depression? Stressful events,
Personality, Family history, Giving birth, Loneliness, Alcohol and drugs and Illness. How to overcome
depression? Exercise, Eat healthy foods and drink plenty of water, Express yourself, Don't dwell on
problems, Notice good things, Face your fears, Have a routine, Be more active, and Stay in touch.
Teenage Pregnancy
 Adolescent mothers aged 10–19 years. What is the main reason of teenage pregnancy? Teenage
pregnancy may be linked to things such as lack of education and information about reproduction, peer
pressure and early engagement of sexual activity. The Philippines has one of the highest teenage
pregnancy rates among the ASEAN member states. More than 500 adolescents are becoming pregnant
and giving birth every day. Comprehensive sexuality education alongside better access to services for
the adolescent is the key to ending teenage pregnancy.

Importance of our Mental health


 Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel,
and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make healthy choices.
Mental health is important at every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence through adulthood.
Good mental health helps us have a more positive outlook and enjoy our lives more, we are better able to cope with the
difficult times in our life, we are more creative when our mental health is good, and that makes us more open to trying new
things, it promotes better relationships with the people in our lives, work more productively and reach our full potential,
make meaningful contributions to our family, to our community and to society, helps us think more clearly, our moods are
improved and our self-esteem enhanced when our mental health is good.

Global Warming

 Global warming is the long-term heating of Earth's surface observed since the pre-industrial period
(between 1850 and 1900) due to human activities, primarily fossil fuel burning, which increases heat-
trapping greenhouse gas levels in Earth's atmosphere. This term is not interchangeable with the term
"climate change." What are the  human activities are very likely the main cause of global warming ? FOSSIL
FUELS, DEFORESTATION, INTENSIVE FARMING, WASTE DISPOSAL, MINING, OVERCONSUMPTION. HOW
CAN WE PREVENT GLOBAL WARMING? Renewable energies, Energy & water efficiency, Sustainable
transportation, Sustainable infrastructure,. Sustainable agriculture & forest management and Responsible
consumption & recycling.
