Chapter IV

DISCUSSION OF RESULTS

This chapter presents the results, the analysis and interpretation of

data gathered from the answers to the survey questionnaires distributed to the

respondents. The said data were presented in tabular form in accordance with

the specific question posited on the statement of the problem.

A. Level of Usage of Online Bills Payment

This study determined the level of usage of the General Santos City

Senior High School Teachers on online bills payment in terms of utility

payment, online purchases, and load and internet bills, as shown in Table 1.1,

1.2, and 1.3, respectively. To do this, weighted mean and standard deviation

were used to analyze the results.

Firstly, as evaluated by the General Santos City Senior High School

Teachers, the result revealed that they have a very high level of usage in

paying their utility bills online as it saves time and effort with a mean score of

x̃ = 4.50. This means that the Senior High School Teachers agreed that online
payment saves their time and effort when paying their utility bills as it can be

done anywhere if there is an internet. Additionally, for this specific indicator,

the standard deviation (σ) was found to be at 0.82, which denotes that the

responses of Senior High School Teachers are close to each other and most

of the time they agree in the indicator.

Meanwhile, the results also revealed that they have high level of

usage in terms of paying utility bills because it provides less hassle in using,

especially on holidays (x̃ = 3.90); using online payment since there are no

longer questions and does not require effort in doing any transaction (x̃ =

4.06); uses online payment due to its real time, reliable, and fast transaction

(x̃ = 4.10); and, the overall service of online payment is what they look forward

to (x̃ = 3.15). This means that Senior High School Teachers agreed that

Online Payment is hassle free, requires less effort, and it is fast and reliable in

paying utility bills. The Senior High School Teachers have hectic schedules

even on holidays and online payment on the other hand, offers a hassle-free

transaction at all time. In addition, these specific indicators, the standard

deviation (σ) was found to be at the range of 0.82 – 1.00 which denotes that

responses of the Senior High School Teachers are close from each other and

most of the time they certainly agree in each indicator; Moreover, the

indicators with a standard deviation at the range of 1.08 – 1.18 denotes that

the responses of Senior High School Teacher are not close from each other

or responses are spread.

Generally, the General Santos City Senior High School Teachers have

high level of usage on online payment in terms of utility bills as shown by the

overall mean score x̃ = 4.15. The results imply that using online payment in
paying utility bills is preferred by the majority of the General Santos City

Senior High School Teachers because it is fast, reliable, saves time and

effort, and hassle free.

The result of the study is supported by the work of Yung-Tsan J. Et al.

(2022) entitled “Assessing Service Quality and Customer Satisfaction of

Electric Utility Provider’s Online Payment System during the COVID-19

Pandemic: A Structural Modeling Approach” stated that responsiveness,

assurance, empathy, online security, and service quality are important factors

that can affect the usage of a customer, which is why the researchers

recommended that great attention must be paid to all intangible aspects of

online payment because it can influence customers’ loyalty. Also, the study of

Cendana D., and Palaoag T. (2020) entitled “The Potential of Designing a

Digital Payment Framework for Philippine HEIs” which showed that online

payment mediums contributes to the educational environment the

convenience it brings, and promotes a sense of responsibility for students to

prioritize their financial obligations.

Secondly, in terms of Online purchases, the results revealed that they

have a very high level of usage in terms of paying their online purchases

because it saves time and effort with a mean score of x̃ = 4.33. This means

that the Senior High School Teachers agreed that the usage of online

payment in paying online purchases saves their time and effort because they

can pay automatically online and it also reduces the overall workload that they

need do when paying. Also, for this indicator, the standard deviation (σ) was

found to be at 0.80, which denotes that the responses of senior high school

Teachers are close to each other and most of the time they agree in the

indicator.

Meanwhile, the results revealed that they have high level of usage in

using online bills payment for their every online purchase (x̃ = 3.60); using

contactless payment of every online purchases they make as it is favorable to

the advent of technology (x̃ = 3.70); and, using online payment because they

get special discounts, promos, and vouchers (x̃ = 3.66). This means that

senior high school Teachers mostly use online payment to pay their online

purchases because of the contactless payment makes is favorable, and it

gives discounts, promos, and vouchers. Additionally, these specific

indicators, the standard deviation (σ) was found to be at the range of 0.80 –

0.98 which denotes that responses of the senior high school Teachers are

close from each other and most of the time they certainly agree in each

indicator; Moreover, the indicator with a standard deviation at 1.13 denotes

that the responses of senior high school teacher are not close from each other

or responses are spread.


Furthermore, the result also revealed that they have a moderate level

of usage in terms of paying for online purchases because of the overall

security and privacy policy it provides, that have a mean score of x̃ = 3.40.

This means that some Senior High School Teachers moderately use online

payment to pay their online purchases because of the overall security and

privacy policy that they have experienced. However, the Teachers must have

encountered issues regarding their privacy and security. In addition to that, for

this specific indicator, the standard deviation (σ) was found to be at 1.13,

which denotes that the responses of senior high school teacher are not close

from each other or responses are spread.

Generally, the General Santos City Senior High School Teachers have

high level of usage on online payment in terms of utility bills online purchases

as shown by the overall mean score x̃ = 3.74. The results imply that using

online payment in paying online purchases is convenient but there are issues

experienced by the Senior High School Teachers in their privacy and security.

The result of the study is supported by the work of Shanti R. and Desti

K. (2015), entitled “Consumers’ Perception on Online Shopping” which stated

that consumers feel very convenient to shop online since it frees the customer

from personally visiting the store and it reduces the effort of travelling to a

physical store. Decision can be made from home at ease looking at various

choices. In line with that, the study of Warayuanti (2015) entitled “The

Influence of Lifestyles and Consumers attitudes on product Purchasing

Decision via Online Shopping” was found to be vital as a support to the

current result. Through online shopping channels, it is believed that the buyer

can make savings of time, expense, and effort.

Lastly, in terms of Load and Internet Bills , the results revealed that

they have a very high level of usage of the online payment in terms of paying

their load and internet bills (x̃ = 4.36), using online payment because of its

user-friendly environment and visually pleasing set up (x̃ = 4.43), and uses

online payment because the websites and applications for paying load and

internet bills online is very accessible (x̃ = 4.30). This means that Senior High

School Teachers agreed that the usage of online payment is highly

convenient because of its user-friendly environment, easily accessed

websites and applications that have visually pleasing set up which

encourages the Senior High School Teachers to make payment online. In

addition to that, for the first indicator, the standard deviation (σ) was found at
1.03, which denotes that the responses of the General Santos City Senior

High School Teachers are not close to each other and they do not agree in

the indicator; meanwhile, the standard deviation (σ) of the indicators two &

four was found at the range of 0.89 – 0.95, which denotes that the responses

of the General Santos City Senior High School Teachers are close to each

other, and they certainly agreed in the indicators.

Moreover, the results also revealed that they have a high level of

usage in terms of paying their load and internet bills because they agreed that

it is highly cost-saving (x̃ = 4.06), and they agreed there is no problem if it is

permanently added as a mode of payment in paying load and internet bills (x̃

= 4.00). This means that Senior High School Teachers mostly prefer to pay

load and internet bills online because it is highly cost-saving as it does not

require them physically to go to the payment center. The Senior High School

Teacher see no problem if it is permanently added as a mode of payment for

load and internet bills because of the advent of technology. Furthermore, the

standard deviation (σ) of the indicator five was found at 0.94, which denotes

that responses of the senior high school Teachers are close from each other

and most of the time they certainly agree in the specific indicator; additionally,

the standard deviation (σ) of the indicator three was also found at 1.17 which

denotes that the responses of senior high school teacher for the certain

indicator is not close from each other or responses are spread.

Generally, the General Santos City Senior High School Teachers have

very high level of usage on online payment in terms of load and internet bills

as shown by the overall mean score x̃ = 4.23. The results imply that the

Senior High School Teachers uses online payment in paying their load and
internet bills because of its user-friendly environment, visually pleasing set up,

highly cost-saving, and quick to access; they also agreed that they see no

problem if it is added as a permanent mode of payment in terms of load and

internet bills.

The result of the study is supported by Khan S. and Jain S. (2018)

stated that it has been noticed that the advantages of online payment

methods in paying load and internet bills are frequently related to the benefits

provided by smartphones, which include independent payment, easy access

to the services anywhere, anytime, door-step services, easy tracking, and the

ability to avoid the queues and cash payments. In Romig (2022) it was proven

that compared to the level of usage of online payment in 2020, in the year

2021 76% of adults globally have online payment accounts. In line with that,

the study by Rahayu I. and Setiyadi D. (2022) entitled “The Effect of Trust,

Emotional Marketing, and Spiritual Marketing on Consumer Decisions to

Choose Shopee Pay Digital Wallet Servicesalso” stated that online bills

payment has been seen as a facility that provides convenience in transactions

because of its accessibility.

B. Level of Satisfaction on Online Bills Payment

This study also determined the level of satisfaction of the Senior High

School Teachers on online bills payment in terms of utility payment, online

purchases, and load and internet bills as shown in Table 2.1, 2.2, 2.3,

respectively. To do this, weighted mean and standard deviation were used to

analyze the results.

In terms of their satisfaction, specifically in utility payment as shown in

Table 2.1, as evaluated by senior high school Teachers in General Santos


City High School, as evaluated by the General Santos City Senior High

School Teachers, the results revealed that they have a very high level of

satisfaction on online payment in terms of utility payment because of the ease

of paying online and easy transferring money to pay utility bills, which has a

mean score of x̃ = 4.30.

This means that the Senior High School Teachers agreed that they are

highly satisfied of the ease of paying and easy transferring money of online

payment because of its flexibility that enables them to track their payment

easily with their hectic schedules. Also, for this specific indicator, the standard
deviation (σ) was found to be at 1.08, which denotes that the responses of

senior high school are not close from each other or the responses are spread.

Meanwhile, the results revealed that the Teachers of General Santos

City National Senior High School have a high level of satisfaction in terms of

the ease of making inquiry about paying utility bills online (x̃ = 3.90); ease of

navigating the menu during online payment (x̃ = 4.20); accessible navigation

of payment history (x̃ = 4.20); safe and reliable online websites and

applications for paying utility bills (x̃ = 3.70); accurate and good compensation

quality (x̃ = 3.90); never experienced online fraud or software malfunction (x̃ =

3.56); better problem handling capacity compared to cash-based payment in

terms of utility bills (x̃ = 3.53); gets a proper and immediate response when

having a problem (x̃ = 3.53); and compatible with the daily schedule of the

Senior High School Teacher (x̃ = 4.10). This means that the General Santos

City National Senior High School Teachers find it satisfactory to make easy

inquiries about paying utility bills online. Teachers were also satisfied in terms

of navigating the menu, good and accurate compensation, not experiencing

online fraud or software malfunction, their nice problem handling capacity and

immediate response towards the problems, viewing payment histories, and

that the online websites and applications that are used in paying utility bills

online are safe and reliable. Lastly, Teachers are satisfied with how online

bills payment are compatible with their jam-packed schedules on paying utility

bills. In addition to that, the standard deviation (σ) for this specific indicator

was determined to be in the range of 0.89 – 1.18, indicating that senior high

school Teachers' responses were most likely spread out and is far from the

mean.
Generally, the General Santos City Senior High School Teachers have

a high level of usage of online payment in terms of utility payments, as

shown by the overall mean score of x̃ = 3.89. The results imply that the Senior

High School Teachers who use online payment to pay utility bills are satisfied

in terms of their ease of using online bill payment platforms, its safe and

reliable websites and applications, and their accuracy and good compensation

quality. Additionally, they are satisfied with never experiencing online fraud or

software malfunction, having better problem-handling capacity than cash-

based payment, and being able to pay utility bills online on time.

The result of the study is supported by the work of Smolarczyk A.

(2018) entitled “Customer satisfaction with mobile payments” states that

although the procedures vary among different providers, most mobile

payments can be completed with few simple steps. Payments are

straightforward regardless of the payment characteristics, that is, whether

they refer to paying a bill, transferring money or making a payment of small or

large monetary value. The swift payment process speed in comparison with

traditional methods foster satisfaction. Consequently, the study of Cherukur

B.R., & Harshitha S. (2020) entitled “A study on customer satisfaction on e-

payment applications” states that E-wallet preparing is quick to the point that

you can immediately move cash to anybody over the globe. Mobile wallets

have made our carries on with a lot simpler, with its one-tap highlight and fast

handling all at one-go. Versatile wallets are intended to empower a safe and

incorporated progression of exchanges with problem freecycle.


Moreover, in terms of Online Purchases as shown in Table 2.2, the

results revealed that the Teachers of General Santos City National Senior

High School have a high level of satisfaction in terms of the convenience of

online payment in paying purchases (x̃ = 4.00); can purchase and pay for the

things they want using online payment (x̃ = 4.06); cost-efficiency and flexibility

of paying online purchases (x̃ = 4.16); expectations fulfilled by using online

payment for online purchases (x̃ = 3.86); comfortableness in paying online

purchases using online bills payment (x̃ = 3.70);

National High School find it satisfactory to pay purchases using online

payment due to the convenience of the payment process, Teachers were also

satisfied in terms of purchasing and pay for the things they want using online

payment. Senior High School Teachers are satisfied with the cost-efficiency,

flexibility, comfortableness, and compensation quality of online bills payment.

Senior High School Teachers were also satisfied of the better problem

handling capacity, promptness, satisfaction, and user-friendliness of online

payment in paying online purchases. Lastly, Teachers are satisfied with the

convenience of online purchases. In addition to that, the standard deviation

(σ) for this certain indicator was determined to be in the range of 0.78 – 1.14,

It indicates that the responses from senior high school Teachers were likely

spread out and close to the mean.

Generally, the General Santos City Senior High School Teachers have

a high level of satisfaction on online payment in terms of online purchases as

shown by the overall mean score of x̃ = 3.89. The results indicate that the

Senior High School Teachers are highly satisfied in using online payment in

paying their online purchases. They prefer online payment in paying their

online purchases because of its convenience, cost-efficiency, flexibility,


comfortableness, better problem handling capacity, promptness, user-

friendliness and its compensation quality. Moreover, teachers find online

payment satisfactory because they can buy their needs and wants through

online considering the advantages of online payment.

According to the study of Alam S. S., Ali M. H., Omar N. A., & Hussain

W. M. H. W. (2021), entitled “Customer Satisfaction in Online Shopping in

Growing Markets: An Empirical Study”, the internet offers benefits which help

consumers to become more efficient and effective towards online shopping.

Consumer’s efficiency can be enhanced by online shopping to provide rapid

access to product related information, saving consumers time, effort and

money, quality of the product, and shopping experience. Additionally, based

on the study of Islam A. (2011), stated that customer service, information

quality, response time, transaction capability, delivery, merchandise attributes,

security/privacy, convenient payment method, and price have significant

positive influence on customer satisfaction in online shopping. In the

incidents, time-saving technologies that are included in mobile payment

solutions were highlighted, as well as the reduced amount of stages in the

payment process.

Finally, in terms of their satisfaction, specifically in load and internet

bills as shown in Table 2.3, the results revealed that they have a very high

level of satisfaction in terms of using online payment in paying load and

internet bills as it has a flawless and easy transaction (x̃ = 4.40); the websites

and application provides periodic statements with necessary details (x̃ =

4.36); provides double authentication and real time e-receipt every

transaction (x̃ = 4.33); the websites and application provide immediate

transaction feedback (x̃ = 4.36); the ambience and comfort level of online

payment in load and internet bills is highly satisfactory (x̃ = 4.23); can get a

proper and immediate response towards problems (x̃ = 4.33); and, highly

satisfied with the level of data and information security provided by the online

payment for load and internet bills (x̃ = 4.30). This means that the Teachers of

General Santos City National Senior High School finds it highly satisfactory to

pay load and internet bills using online payment due to its flawless
transactions that automatically reconnect their internet once its paid, double

authentication process that secures their security, accessibility and reliability,

information security provided by the platforms and websites, real time e-

receipt on every transaction, and the general ambience and comfort level of

online payment in load and internet bills. In addition to that, the standard

deviation (σ) for this certain indicator was determined to be in the range of

0.80 – 0.87, which denotes that the responses of the General Santos City

Senior High School Teachers are close to each other, and they certainly

agreed in the indicators.

Meanwhile, the results revealed that they have high level of

satisfaction in trusting online payment for their load and internet bills (x̃ =

4.16); paying load and internet bills online is a sign of modernity (x̃ = 4.20);

and, satisfied with online payment as it provides proper and immediate

response towards problems (x̃ = 4.03). This means that Senior High School

Teachers is satisfied on using online payment in load and internet bills

because they trust it in paying, it is a sign of modernity where technology

advances, and it provides immediate problem feedback from the websites and

application of load and internet payment. Additionally, for the indicator four,

the standard deviation (σ) was found to be at the range of 0.80 which denotes

that responses of the senior high school Teachers are close from each other

and most of the time they certainly agree in each indicator; Moreover, the

indicator six and nine with a standard deviation at 0.11 – 1.12 denotes that the

responses from senior high school Teachers were likely spread out and far

from the mean.


Generally, the General Santos City National Senior High School

Teachers have very high level of satisfaction on online payment in terms of

load and internet bills as shown by the overall mean score x̃ = 4.27. The

results imply that the Senior High School Teacher is highly satisfied on using

online payment in paying their Load and Internet bills because of its

flawlessness, accessibility, and reliability in transactions; additionally, the

websites and applications provides necessary details, immediate response on

problems, and double authentication security.

The result of the study is supported by the work of Pratap, Saroy, and

Dhal (2021) entitled “Digital Payments and Consumer Experience in India: A

Survey Based Empirical Study” stated that when it comes to virtual payment,

it is important to build trust with your customers due to the fact that issues of

privacy are very common in virtual payments. Also, we cannot ignore the role

played by demographic factors in better digital payment adoption. Digital

payments adoption is expected to increase in line with the overall

socioeconomic development of the population. In line with that, according to

the study of Lim E. (2014) entitled “Adoption of E-Commerce in Manila” The

results showed that the ease of understanding, personalization, and reliability

are good indicators from consumers’ intention to accept E-commerce and will

help E-Commerce producers to concentrate their resources to improve

necessary strategies to motivate internet users to switch to virtual payment

platforms in order to increase their profitability in the future.

C. Relationship between Level of Usage and Satisfaction on Online Bills


Payment

This study also investigated the relationship between the level of

satisfaction and the level of satisfaction of the Senior High School Teacher on
Online Bills Payment shown in Table 3. To do this, Pearson “Product-

Moment” Correlation and test of significance were used. Test of significance is

set at 0.05 level of significance.

Results have shown that the coefficient is given by rxy = 0.845 which

denotes that there is a very strong positive linear correlation between the

level of usage and the level of satisfaction of the Senior High School Teacher

on Online Bills Payment. Moreover, the coefficient of determination value is r2

= 0.714 (or 71.4%). This means that roughly 71% of the level of usage of the

General Santos City Senior High School Teachers is satisfied with Online Bills

Payment. The results imply that if their Online Bills Payment usage came out

positively and they are satisfied with its services, the more hooked up they will

be.

Furthermore, it was found out that the p – value = 0.000 which is less

than the level of significance at 0.05. The results signify that there is strong

evidence that would support the claim that the level of usage and level of

satisfaction of General Santos City Senior High School Teachers are

significantly related to each other.

The result is supported by the works of Kar A. K. (2020), Krishna K. V.

& Shanmugam V. (2020), which stated that level of usage and level of

satisfaction is directly proportional to each other, as the usage affect the


satisfaction of a user. Furthermore, Alhammadi A. A., & Tariq M. U. (2020)

stated that users can attain satisfaction through e-payment services by having

a good internet connection, easy accessibility of e-banking services, and skills

to use the services. Therefore, it is evident that perceived ease of use plays

an essential role in attaining customer satisfaction (Vinitha K. & Vasantha S.,

2018).
