The Effectiveness of Grease Trap in Relation of Ecological Solid Waste Management in Brgy. 1, Laoag City
The Effectiveness of Grease Trap in Relation of Ecological Solid Waste Management in Brgy. 1, Laoag City
Rationale:
This study aimed to investigate the usage and behavior of grease traps to
develop the suitable and easily-maintenance grease traps. And to study the
effectiveness of the grease trap in relation of ecological solid waste management. An
overflowing grease trap is a result of not pumping out the grease from the first
compartment in a timely manner. In this particular problem, the waste from the first
compartment is spilling over the second one. The worse part, it will clog the crossover,
outgoing as well as incoming lines. It can usually cause fire if the grease trap is nearly in
the gas stove and anything that causes fire. Grease traps can also cause accidents to
the people who are walking and accidentally can’t see the open grease trap.
Clogs in the outgoing line are comparatively easy to spot as that leads to
overflows in both the compartments. However, this type of blockage can either be in the
outgoing line or the city main. This type of grease trap problem can be evaded only by
having a grease removal unit cleaned and pumped regularly by a grease trap service
expert.
Objectives:
The purpose of this study was to conduct an in-depth study focusing on the impacts of
grease trap in the environment. The objectives of this study were the following:
1. To identify the causes of not having grease trap in the owner’s business by using a
case study;
2. To recommend ways or protective measures in which the environment can be safe;
