NARRATOR: Long ago, in the faraway land of ancient Greece, there was a golden age of powerful
Gods and extraordinary heroes.

NARRATOR: And the greatest and strongest of all these heroes was Hercules. But… what is the
measure of the true hero?

NARRATOR: Ah… that is what our story is all about…

[As musas os interrompem]

THALIA: Will you listen to him? He’s making the story sound like a Greek tragedy!

CALLIOPE: Lighten up, dude!

CLIO: We’ll take it from here

NARRATOR: You go, girls!

ERATO: We are the muses. Goddesses of the arts and proclaimers of heroes.

URANIA: Heroes like Hercules!

POLYMNIA: Our story actually begins long before Hercules…many years ago…

THALIA: Back when the world was new…The Planet Earth was down on its luck.

CALLIOPE: Chaos reigned! Earthquakes and volcanoes never rest.

CLIO: Then along came Zeus…he hurled his thunderbolts… he locked all the evil creatures in a
vault!

ERATO: They’re trapped! Zeus tamed the globe while still in his youth.

URANIA: On Mount Olympus life was good, neat…

POLYMNIA: And that’s the gospel truth!

HERA: Hercules! Behave yourself!

ZEUS: Oh, look at this. Look how cute he is. [Ele tenta pegar o bebê Hercules] Hah! He 's strong!
Like his dad, hmn? I can’t believe he is one year old already.

APHRODITE: Oh Hera! It looks like yesterday when he was born!

CHLORIS: And look how strong and big he has become.

ARES: Actually…doesn’t he look like a little..hummm… too big for one year old?

APHRODITE: Shhh Ares, silence!

CHLORIS: He is the son of the most powerful of Gods!

DEMETER: What were you expecting?

[Hermes se aproxima correndo]

HERMES: Whoaaa! Excuse me! Hot stuff coming through!! Excuse me!

[Ele passa por todos os Deuses e entrega flores à Deusa Hera]

HERA: Oh, Hermes… they are lovely.

HERMES: Yeah, you know, I had Chloris do the arrangement for me.

CHLORIS: Oh! It was not such a big deal, Hera. Just some stars from the Milky way, some flowers
from Demeter’s garden and some…

DEMETER: You were the one who stole my flowers! Chloris! You are always stealing them. How
many times do I have to tell you?

[Chloris e Demeter começam a discutir]

HERMES: Fabulous party your Highness. You know? I haven’t seen this much love in a room since
Narcissus discovered himself.

[Narcissus está se olhando no espelho]

NARCISSUS: Oh, who is the cutest one in this room?

CHLORIS: Do we have to look at this?

DEMETER: At least he’s not stealing my flowers…

NARCISSUS: Look at those golden locks, and those muscles…shh now, you are so silly!

HERA: Come here, baby Hercules.

ZEUS: Aww.. he won’t hurt himself. Let the kid have a little fun. Now… attention everybody! On
behalf of my son, I’d like to thank you all for the wonderful gifts!

HERA: What about our gift, dear?

ZEUS: Well, let’s see here…it’s time to present… Pegasus! He’s all yours, son.

[Zeus dá um pequeno Pegasus para Hercules]

HADES: How sentimental. You know, I haven’t been this moved since I got a bone of fish caught in
my throat! Huh?
[Ele espera risadas, mas ninguém ri]

HADES: So is this an audience or a mosaic?

[Ele vai até Aphrodite]

HADES: Looking good Aphrodite, dinner next Friday?

APHRODITE: Thank you Hades.

CHLORIS: Just if you try not to make us die of being so boring again!

HADES: Pffff, people nowadays…They just don’t get a joke.

[Zeus vai até Hades e dá um abraço beeem apertado nele]

ZEUS: Hades!!! You finally made it! How are things in the underworld?

[Hades vai se afastando]

HADES: Just fine, you know, a little dark….full of dead people. What are we gonna do? [Sendo
sarcástico] Ah, here is our little sunspot.

ZEUS: Come on Hades, join the celebration!

HADES: I would love to but, unlike the Gods relaxing up here, I have a full-time job, that you, gave
me…Zeus. So, I can’t.

ZEUS: You have to slow down Hades, you’ll work yourself to death. Hah! Work yourself to death!

[Todos começam a rir, menos Hades]

HADES: Fine, fine, fine. Just let me know the instant the Fates arrive.

PANIC: Oh, they are already here.

HADES: Great, great. Anyway, see, I was at this party and I lost track of time.

ATROPOS: And the party was for the baby… this baby…

HADES: What? Is this kid gonna mess up with me or what?

CLOTHO: We’re not supposed to reveal the future.

HADES: Please, my faith is in your hands.

LACHESIS: Oh, alright!

CLOTHO: In 18 years, the planets will align… then unleash the Titans

ATROPOS: The once-proud Zeus will finally fail. And you, Hades, you will rule all!

[Bebê Hércules está brincando com Pegasus. Zeus e Hera estão dormindo]

[Panic e Pain pegam o bebê e saem do palco]

ZEUS: Huh?

HERA: Wha…what is it?

HERA: Hercules!

ZEUS: No!!!

[Ela pega Hercules no colo]

[Escondidos, Pain e Panic observam]

PANIC: Hades is gonna kill us when he finds out what happened.

PAIN: Wait! You mean… “if” he finds out.

PANIC / PAIN: It’s a secret!

[Eles vão embora]

AMPHITRYON: Oh, well, he must have been abandoned.

ALCMENE: My dear, for so many years we have prayed to the Gods to bless us with a baby.
Maybe he is the answer to our prayers.

AMPHITRYON: Perhaps they have. Look he has a necklace… Hercules.

CALLIOPE: It was tragic! Zeus led all the Gods on a frantic search.

THALIA: But, by the time they found the baby, it was too late.

CLIO: Young Hercules was mortal now.

ERATO: But since he did not drink all the liquid in the bottle…

URANIA: He kept all the God’s strength

POLYMNIA: Ow, Zeus and Hera cried, because their son could never return home.

CALLIOPE: And so they had to watch their precious baby grow up from afar.

[Hercules entra correndo puxando um carrinho de mão]

AMPHITRYON: Hercules! Slow down!

[Ele esbarra em pessoas, no cenário]

HERCULES: Oops, sorry guys!

HELIUS: Watch where you’re going!

AMPHITRYON: Now, Hercules, I have to talk to Phideas, please, wait here.

[Hercules espera parado, mas vê um homem chegando, ele está desequilibrando e está
segurando um vaso]

ARGUS: Oh, my goodness! Whoaaa!

[Hercules pega a tempo]

HERCULES: Careful!

ARGUS: Oh…thank you!

HERCULES: No problem. Let me help you with that.

ARGUS: no, no, no, no, no, I got it. I’m fine.

HERCULES: Are you sure?

ARGUS: Oh yes, absolutely.

HERCULES: No, I insist in helping you.

[Hercules e o homem puxam o vaso de um lado para o outro e Hercules derruba o cenário]

HERCULES: Ohhh, no…

AMPHITRYON: Son…

ARGUS: This is the last straw, Amphitryon!

DAPHNE: That boy is a hazard! He is too dangerous to be around normal people.

AMPHITRYON: He didn’t mean any harm…he just can’t control…he is very strong.
GAIA: You keep that…that….that freak away from here!

ALCMENE: Son, you shouldn’t let those things get to you.

HERCULES: I know it doesn’t make any sense.

[Ele se afasta e seus pais vão até ele]

ALCMENE: Hercules, there’s something your father and I wanted to… to tell you.

[Durante a música, os pais estão contando o que aconteceu. Eles mostram o medalhão para
Hercules]

HERCULES: Mom..Dad…You are the best parents anyone could have, but… I gotta go.

[Ele se despede dos pais e sai em sua jornada]

HERCULES: Oh, mighty Zeus. Please…hear me, and answer my prayer. I need to know: who am
I?

ZEUS: My boy. My little Hercules.

HERCULES: Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

ZEUS: Hey, hey! Hold on kiddo! After all these years is this the hello you give to your father?

HERCULES: F-f-father?

ZEUS: Surprise!!! Look how big you are!

HERCULES: I don’t understand…If you are my father, that would make me a…

ZEUS: A God.

HERCULES: Then why did you leave me on Earth? You didn’t want me?

ZEUS: Of course we did. Your mother and I loved you with all our hearts. But someone stole you
from us and turned you mortal. And…only Gods can live on Mount Olympus.

HERCULES: And you can’t do anything?

ZEUS: I can’t. But, you can.

HERCULES: I will do anything!

ZEUS: Hercules, if you can prove yourself to be a true hero on Earth, you will become a God
again.

HERCULES: Great! And…how do I do that?

ZEUS: First, you must look for Philoctetes, the trainer of heroes.

HERCULES: I won’t let you down, father.

ZEUS: Good luck, son.

HERCULES: Hello? Can you help me? I’m looking for someone called Philoctetes.

PHIL: Call me Phil.

HERCULES: Phil! I’m glad to meet you! I need your help, I want to become a hero. A true hero!

PHIL: Sorry, kid. Can’t help you.

HERCULES: Why not?

PHIL: I am retired.

HERCULES: Look, I gotta do this. Please, Phil.

PHIL: Look, I trained: Odysseus, Perseus, Theseus… and all of them let me down. I trained
Achilles…but that heel of him..

HERCULES: But I’m different! I can go the distance, Phil! If I don’t become a true hero, I’ll never be
able to rejoin my father, Zeus.

PHIL: Hold on! Zeus is your father? Zeus! The big guy? He’s your daddy?

HERCULES: It’s the truth.

PHIL: In this case… O-kay.

HERCULES: You won’t be sorry, Phil.

PHIL: Oh, Gods!

HERCULES: Ha-ha! Next stop…Olympus!

PHIL: Get your sword!

HERCULES: Sword! Right, right! Rule number 15.

PHIL: Come on kid, concentrate.

[Ele solta Megara]

MEGARA: Is wonder boy here for real?

HERCULES: Are you, uh, alright, Miss, uh –

MEGARA: Megara. My friends call me Meg. So, do you have a name? Or all you have is muscles?

[Ele fica com vergonha]

HERCULES: Uh, I’m, hum… Hercules, my name is Hercules.

MEGARA: Well, thanks for everything, Herc. It’s been a real pleasure. Bye bye wonderboy.

[Ela vai embora]

HERCULES: Bye. She’s… something, isn’t she?

PHIL: Earth to Hercules! We got a job to do, remember? Thebes is waiting.

[Eles saem de cena e Megara volta, Panic e Pain estão lá também]

MEGARA: I thought I smelled rats…

HADES: Meg…

MEGARA: Speaking of the devil…

HADES: Meg, my little flower, my little bird. What exactly happened here?

MEGARA: I gave my best shot.

HADES: Fine, so instead of subtracting two years from your sentence, hey, I’m gonna add two,
okay?

MEGARA: Hey, it wasn’t my fault, it was this Wonderboy, Hercules.

PANIC: Hercules? This name sounds familiar..

PAIN: I don’t know…maybe we owe him some money?

HADES: What’s the name again?

MEGARA: Hercules.

PAIN: Wait a minute! Wasn’t Hercules the name of that kid we were supposed to…

[Na cidade de Thebes]

HERCULES: Wow!

[Eles começam a andar entre as pessoas]

HELIUS: Pita bread! Pita bread! Get your pita bread here!

PHIL: Not interested.

DAPHNE: The end is coming! Can’t you feel? The Titans are returning!

PHIL: Yes, yes, thank you for the info.

GAIA: It was tragic! We lost everything in the fire!

SELENE: Everything…

HELIUS: Were the fires before or after the earthquake?

DAPHNE: They were after the earthquake… I remember.

GAIA: But before the flood.

HERCULES: Excuse me… [todos viram para ele] It uh…seems to me that you folks need a hero.

SELENE: Yeah. And who are you?

HERCULES: I’m Hercules, and I happen to be…. a hero.

[Eles dão risada]

HELIUS: Is that so?

GAIA: A hero! Have you ever saved a town before?

HERCULES: Not exactly..

DAPHNE: Have you ever reversed a natural disaster?

HERCULES: Well, uh…no.

GAIA: Young man, we need a professional hero, not an amateur.

HERCULES: How am I supposed to prove myself a hero if nobody will give me a chance?

PHIL: You will get a chance. You just need some kind of catastrophe or disaster.

[Megara aparece]

MEGARA: Please! Please! There’s been a terrible accident!

HERCULES: Meg?

PHIL: Speaking of disasters…

MEGARA: Wonderboy! Hercules, thank goodness.

HERCULES: What’s wrong?

MEGARA: It’s outside of town, two little boys, they are stuck in a cave.

HERCULES: Kids? Trapped? Come on!

[Hades no canto]

HADES: Easy uh? Let’s try something harder…

[Hydra aparece]

HERCULES: ph-ph-ph-phil? What do you call that thing?

PHIL: Oh my Goodness!

HADES: Oh, yeah…I wonder if maybe…hum, Meg, my sweet.. see, he has to have a week point..

MEGARA: I’ve done my part! Get these two to do this job!

HADES: They couldn’t handle him as a baby! If you give me the key to bringing him down… I will
give you your freedom.
[Ela suspira…mas aceita]

ZEUS: What day, son?

HERCULES: The day… I rejoin the Gods.

ZEUS: You’ve done great, Hercules… but… You are not there yet…

HERCULES: But…father…

ZEUS: I’m afraid being famous is not the same as being a true hero.

HERCULES: What more can I do?

ZEUS: Look inside your heart.

MEGARA: Uhh, my feet.

[Ela quase cai]

HERCULES: Careful, Meg. Sit.

MEGARA: Sorry, weak ankles. So, do you have any problems like this?

HERCULES: Oh, no, not really.

MEGARA: Oh, Wonderboy, you are perfect. (Bufando)

HERCULES: I know you are good too.

MEGARA: How do you know what I’m like?

[Panic e Pain começam a tentar pegar os deuses]

[Ele joga raios nos titans e eles caem]

[Hades está saindo]
