INDRODUCTION

Concrete kerb is made up constituents of fine and coarse aggregates mix up


together with cements and water, other substances are added only to improve
the quality. A range of precast concrete kerbs for use as an edge restrain in the
construction of roads footpaths, parking areas and various applications

DIFFERENT TYPES OF KERBSTONES AND EDGES

1. DRAINAGE KERBSTONE

Used as a boundary line and leading rainwater off the road. Inlet holes in the
one- or two-part kerbs allows surface water to run quickly into appropriate
drainage systems.

2. RADIUS KERBSTONE

They are used to create bends and curves in kerbline.

3. WATER CHANNEL KERBS

Used as a method of preventing the degradation of road surface and edging


between channels and kerbs.

4. ROUND TOP GARDEN EDGE

ACCORDING TO (The Cobble shop, 2017) round top garden edge is used to
create the perfect finishing to any garden and at the same time guiding the
visitors in the direction they choose.

5. FLAT TOP GARDEN EDGE

They are used as garden border and making lawn beds to create a modern look
said by (Travis Perkins, 2022)

6. HALF BATTERED KERB

Provide barrier line in pedestrian and vehicle pathways, they are made highly
durable to ensure long lasting and consistent look. They are ideally suited
for commercial roads, industrial and residential estates, and in domestic
situations  according to (Roadstone, 2023)

7. FULL BATTERED KERBS

For safety purpose when the vehicle may need to ride up on to verge in an
emergency, they are not used when the footprint is present according to
(Stowell concrete, 2023)

8. DROPPER KERB

To allow easy access for people and vehicular traffics at access points such as
pedestrian crossing.

9. QUADRANT KERB

Quadrant create a neat finish where curved is required

10. KL KERBS

 A multi functional edging product used as an edging restraint when more


depth is needed.

`They have same purpose as KL kerbs are commonly used when smaller edging
