Personal statement

My name is Nguyen Tien Dat who is a student in the progression programme collaborated
between Foreign Trade University in Vietnam and University of Bedfordshire in the UK. At
present, I have successfully passed the first 2 years of this bachelor programme at Foreign Trade
University in Vietnam, and I wish to transfer to The University of Bedfordshire in the UK to study
the final year of this course.

I choose to study this bachelor final year in the UK because I want to experience in an advanced
learning environment, modern facilities, and taught by local teachers. This is also an opportunity
for me to experience the British culture, visit the extremely beautiful natural scenery of England.
Studying and living in the UK will help me broaden my understanding of a developed country,
broaden my horizons about the world, meet and interact with friends from variety of
nationalities. And very important, I can develop English language skills and enhance employment
prospects.

I would like to apply for BSc Business Studies in Project Management (Top-up year) because in
the future I want to work as a project manager for a telecommunication company in Vietnam,
such as VINAPHONE or VIETEL, who are leading company in providing telecommunication
services in Vietnam. The course at University of Bedfordshire will teach me many business
aspects such as business strategy, market analysis, but it will more focus to develop my
knowledge and skills of project operation. After completion of this course, I will know how to
carry out a project, how to manage all resources such as capital, human, facilities ... effectively
within a limited time frame. Moreover, the course will develop for me many useful skills, such as
presentation skill, team working skill, communication skill, decision making skill which are needed
in the international working environment nowadays.

I have done much research about University of Bedfordshire in the UK. I found out that the
university offers their students excellent academic quality, modern learning facilities and well-
developed practically oriented programmes. I asked many alumni students and all gave me good
feedback about the University, especially their supports for international students. I believe that
University of Bedfordshire will be a great environment for me to study and gain valuable
experience for my future career.

I hope that my application will be considered and approved so that I can fulfill my study plan.
