Before I became fascinated by the media world, I was subconsciously a part of it
like everyone else. The news on TV, the magazines that I read and the commercials urged me to buy the products I purchased. I find it remarkable and inspiring how the media exercise power over our lives whilst offering rich cultural rewards. I am amazed by the action and effects of human communications of all kinds and am keen to extend the insight I have gained so far. I have always been interested in the subject as it is captivating and has very high relevance in society. My undergraduate study in English has further prepared me for the course as it helped me gain communication skills needed to succeed in the Mass communication field. My bachelor's program also helped me learn proven techniques to analyze communication and disseminate information more critically. There are various career options available to English Language majors, with a career in mass communication a significant part of it. Considering my skills and interests, I would find fulfilment in working in the creative industry. The education from the University of Bedfordshire along with my commitment to the subject and with my language skills and would allow me to pursue a career in the mass communication field. Therefore, I have chosen to study this masters course as a pathway to my career in the mass communication field. With this ever-changing world, studying this course would keep me updated on the modern practices in mass communication and better prepare me for a career in it. My interest to continue my education at the University of Bedfordshire spurs from the course structure of my desired course. The MA Mass communication is further embedded with Data analytics which is the future. Apart from learning about mass communication, course modules like Data Modelling, Management, And Governance would help me understand the concept of data analytics, manipulation & presentation, which are core skills required in the modern work environment. The university’s excellent reputation is also another factor I considered. The university is home to many international students. The diversity is beautiful. I certainly look forward to having different nationalities on campus and interacting with students from various mass communication backgrounds, degree disciplines, and cultural, national, and international experiences. The University of Bedfordshire has a very high employability rating. Most of its courses are accredited, which speaks volumes of the level of education being impacted with strong industry links with BBC, TUI and Channel 4. The university is also known for its innovative research and world-class facilities to support and aid learning. Furthermore, the university is also located in Bedfordshire's buzzing city, one of the Uk’s big cities with many attractions. Bedfordshire is also a city with lots of young people, which makes it a lot more exciting. I choose to study in the UK because of a host of reasons. Firstly, the quality of education. A UK degree is widely recognized as equal to that of other top countries globally. It is well ranked internationally, which is very much superior to that of my home country. Secondly, the affordable cost of education in the UK, given the excellent quality of education, was another factor I considered while choosing my country of choice. Thirdly, the international exposure of the country was another factor I considered. The UK is exposed to many international applicants, and as a result, assimilating and blending in would be much easier. Having acknowledged that United Kingdom education is well recognized all over the world. More importantly, the first four top university rankings are from the UK. This shows the quality of education in UK universities. The UK universities are inspected regularly to uphold the high quality and standard laid down by the government. Right now, UK research is world-leading with international excellence and relevance. This would also assist in propagating evidence-based practices, and the duration of most courses in UK universities are shorter compared to other countries. Finally, the cultural diversity of life in the UK is unequalled, considering the cosmopolitan towns and cities to historical centres to the ancient buildings, which could enrich my cultural perception. Studying at the UK University will allow me to study in a core academic environment with excellent facilities for learning with ease, such as the innovative library and amazing research supervisory team. This will facilitate my critical thinking skills and problem-solving techniques, which would enhance my research skills.
