Project Title: RecipeBuddy (App) Date: June 10, 2022

Scope and Objectives:

The RecipeBuddy App will help users who struggle with limited time, money, and recipes to
cook quick and healthy meals while maintaining budget by saving cost of unnecessary
purchases and help save time figuring out what meals to cook and how to do so. This app is
set to help users stay in control of their time while making efforts to eat healthy fresh meals.

The scope of the project includes all screens on the RecipeBuddy mobile application,
Register/Login functionality, Search/Filter functionality, Setting functionality for personal
cooking preference, Database for the recipe, and Proper APIs for the recipes. These are the
main objectives of the RecipeBuddy App.

General Objectives:

1. Helps users with limited time, money, and recipe ideas to cook healthy meals at
home more efficiently with a step-by-step guide.

2. Allows users in control of what they eat while saving the time and energy of
figuring out what and how to cook recipes, allowing users to follow a simple app
to carry out this routine.

Specific Objectives:

1. Mobile application(App)
a. Which includes login functionality so that each user experience
customized suggestion for their recipe recommendation
b. Which provides fast speed so that users can use the app conveniently in
the kitchen
2. Database
a. Which includes more than 10000+ recipes so that the product can
recommend the most proper recipe

Defining Conditions, Constraints, and Assumptions:

The constraints included in the application will be as follows; for security the communications
made between the users can pose various security threats like malware and ransomware.
Being able to store all the data on the end-user side is also a constraint as users that wish to
use RecipeBuddy will need to be able to download the application along with the
downloadable material. Imperfections of UX design can also potentially exist if not properly
tested on all platforms and finally lack of resources to complete this project as it requires
extensive hours to be put in with the right teammates.

Project Manager Authority and Responsibilities:

1. Staffing – the project manager will determine the skill requirements for the
RecipeBuddy project and provide them, along with specific team member names,
by June 19 to the appropriate functional managers.
2. Budget – the initial estimate of the project cost is $0. This project doesn’t cost
more than the programmers’ working time. This budget cannot be exceeded
without authority from the President and the Chief Financial Officer.
3. Communications – status reports will be provided to all the team members,
President, CFO, and the Sponsor monthly.
4. Planning/Tracking – this project will be tracked using Microsoft Project software.
5. Change Control – the project manager is authorized to make project changes
provided they do not exceed $5,000 in additional cost and do not impact the
schedule. Otherwise, any changes will be made through the Configuration
Change Control Board.
6. Document/System Access – the project manager is authorized to access to any
company document or system in the pursuit of this project completion.

7. The project manager will provide a project plan to the Sponsor no later than
June 12. The project plan will include a description of the work, schedules,
budget, spending plan, resource utilization charts, risk management plans, and a
quality plan.

Project The RecipeBuddy App project will include the following activities:
Description - create a mobile app
- create a database for the recipes
- create functionality for register/login
- create a local database in the app to reduce response time
- find proper API to get information of various recipes
- develop a content strategy to improve UX and contents
- test for good user experience
- deploy mobile app

Project Purpose The RecipeBuddy App will help users who struggle with limited time,
money and recipe references in order to try to cook healthily for their
health and budget. The app will reduce not just the time to consider
every day’s meal but also food waste by suggesting the most proper
recipe based on ingredients in users’ fridges.

Project Goals & The outcome of this project will be an app that:
outcomes - suggests a recipe that uses ingredients in your fridge
- recommends a healthy recipe that user can improve their lifestyle
- helps users to save time thinking about their meal every day
- manages groceries in users’ fridge not to be wasted
- helps users to spend less money on grocery shopping
Project Scope The scope of our project includes:
- All screens on the RecipeBuddy mobile application

Project The main deliverable of this project will be a mobile application that is

1. Economical and Easy to use:- No hassle for buying a recipe book
and still not finding the appropriate recipes for the ingredients
they prefer.
2. Freedom for Reviews:- Will include a section for comments so
that users can share their experiences or new ideas.

● For Investors and Developers:


1. Earning through In-App Advertisement and premium
membership:-Most of the applications are available free of cost
and have the maximum earning through these in-ads and a paid
membership for the application.
2. Leading Success of the application will allow various
sponsorships for uplifting the App.

● Environment Friendly: This will reduce the usage of paper for the
recipe book.

Constraints / The constraints included in the application will be:


Risks - As this involves the communication between the users, there will be
various security threats like malware and ransomware involved.
- Storage issues on the end-user side as the application has a lot of
downloaded material.
- Imperfection in the UX design
- Inclusion of Extra features may result in low consistency.
- Lack of Resources for the Project like teammates, skills, and tools

- The application will be a user-friendly app, which will mainly focus on
the individuals to have a healthier, more cost-effective diet.
