NeCon - Insights

4th and 5th of November 2022

Letter from the Principal
"Freedom is a timeless value."
Freedom from poverty, illiteracy, prejudices and terrorism is
one of the key agendas of mankind for which we need to
collaborate and form bonds based on mutual love, respect and
tolerance.
You are the leaders in making. You are the promise of today
and hope of tomorrow. It is your passion and commitment that
will make this planet a better place. It is you who will find
solutions to the world's problems. Shrouded by the dark clouds
of extremism, unrest and hunger we as a race are fighting for
mere survival, scraping the bottom for the slightest glimmer of
hope. But if we fight as one, with all our strength, with all our
moral authority, the dark clouds of uncertainty will part and the
bright light of optimism will light our path to a better venture.
It gives me immense pleasure to invite you to the very first
edition of NeCon - Insights, Model United Nations
Conference, to be hosted by Grade X students of the Navkis
Educational Centre. With five committees, all of which further
our vision of a world of solidarity, trust and peace, we aim to
provide an intellectually stimulating environment to the
delegates as well as faculty advisors to engage in fruitful
discussion and learn through experience ; the intricacies of
debating, diplomacy and negotiation.
l hope to see you make the most of this opportunity to
showcase your abilities to the world. l have faith that each one
of you will do marvellous job.
Go ahead young leaders, we are proud of you.

Committees
AIPPM - All India Political
Parties Meet
AIPPM- All India Political Party Meet

Agenda : India's education system- Made

to serve, not to lead

All India Political Party Meet is a non-technical but

powerful committee. This is a meeting between all
the political parties of the nation, called before the
session of Parliament or before the introduction of a
bill. This committee aims to arrive at a consensus
before the sessions begin. The purpose of the
meetings was initially to be a forum for unbounded
political debate, but these bodies now aid in
providing a better insight into national issues. They
help provide a diverse viewpoint before the actual
legislative process.

Over the years, there have been many amendments

to the education policy, only focusing on the
reduction of the syllabus and changes in exam
patterns but none addressing the quality of
textbooks. Age-old study materials and resources
are provided to students all over the country.
Even with technology at the tip of our fingers, very
little has been done to improve and integrate
modern ideas and techniques into them. Most top
universities disregard board results and instead rely
on other competitive exams as board examinations
are based on outdated curriculum. Most people travel
abroad in search of better pay, only to discover that
board results are the least valued and are only
appropriate for low-paying positions. Because most
young people are unaware of this, it poses a
significant threat to their future. The outdated
education system has led to the country's demise,
widening the gap between India's status as a
developing and developed country.

Therefore, it is your responsibility to resolve and bring

stability to the system. Delegates must be well
equipped and knowledgeable to debate and petition
for the cause. It requires the delegates to not only
understand but also adopt the personalities of the
political leaders they are representing and keep in
mind their views and positions on various matters.
UNHRC - United Nations
Human Rights Council
UNHRC- United Nations Human
Rights Council

Agenda : Human rights violations in the

Middle East and its power struggle due to
religious and territorial disputes

Since its creation on 15 March 2006 by the resolution

60/251, the United Nations Human Rights Council
constitutes an inter-governmental body which counts
47 member-states elected by the UN General
Assembly. Within its mandate, the HRC withholds the
responsibility to ensure and strengthen the
promotion and protection of human rights on a global
scale, as well as to address cases of human rights
infringements and make recommendations upon
them.
Over the years, the UN Human Rights Council has led
many successful peacekeeping missions in South
Asian countries such as Indonesia and Malaysia as well
as Middle Eastern countries like Israel , Syria ,Iran .
Home to one of the Cradles of Civilization, the
Middle East has seen many of the world's oldest
cultures and civilizations. This history started from
the earliest human settlements, continuing through
several major pre- and post-Islamic Empires
through to the nation-states of the Middle East
today. Conflicts in the Middle East are a recurring
feature in international politics, academic literature,
and current news coverage in today’s world ,
possibly having its roots traced back to power
struggles between leaders , religious conflicts,
inter-state and intra - state and territorial disputes.

The feeling of attachment to tribalism and fake

patriotism under the umbrella of religion is stronger
and more apparent than respect for human rights
and pluralism in the Middle East. Patriotism is used
as a tool to accumulate wealth and oppress the
rights of minorities, while religion and tribalism are
often militarised, making the use of violence
legitimate and normal. Thus , initiating and
contributing towards wars and clashes all over the
region that lead to mass destruction and
bloodshed.
While landmark actions have been taken to resolve
the majority of these issues including conflict
resolution, mediation talks and negotiations , they
still seem to have fallen short by a vast margin with
reference to the current issues that the Middle
Eastern countries face. Therefore it is your
responsibility as delegates and the aim of this
committee to find possible measures and solutions
that will help in tackling problems corresponding to
human right violations and human right laws in the
Middle East for a more conflict free future of the
region. Delegates must be well aware about the
current and past situation in relation to politics in
their respective allocated countries and must garner
knowledge to debate and propose legitimate and
feasible solutions.
ECOFIN- United Nations Economic
and Financial Committee
ECOFIN- United Nations Economic
and Financial Committee

Agenda : Measures to attain long term

debt sustainability in developing countries

ECOFIN, The Economic and Financial Committee of

the UN is one of the main committees; which
primarily deals with global finance and economical
matters of growth and development.

In today's world, The looming debt crisis has been a

slow-burn affair, more than a decade in the making.
Debt is a major issue faced by most developing
countries. It may even be considered a major
obstacle for most countries on their way to
development. Some countries are spending more
on debt interest payments than on health,
education and social protection combined, and that
is hindering the fight against poverty.
ECOFIN works to counter these challenges,
sustainably in order to achieve global economic
development, Assist developing countries in
attaining long-term debt sustainability through
coordinated policies aimed at fostering debt
financing, debt relief and debt restructuring, as
appropriate, and address the external debt of
highly indebted poor countries to reduce debt
distress.

Delegates it is your responsibility to understand

and address the main sources and consequences
which are extremely important for laying the
foundations for a sustainable recovery.
UNCSTD- United Nations
Commission on Science and
Technology for Development
UNCSTD- United Nations
Commission on Science and
Technology for Development
Agenda : Law and regulation for future
space travel

The United Nations Commission for Science and

Technology for Development is an organisation
that aims to improve the quality of life of people
around the world using advancements in science
and technology.
The Outer Space Treaty consists of 9 provisions
governing space travel but it does not cover the
modern advancements in technology and
science. One big example is the concept of
asteroid mining which is soon to become the next
“Space Race”. Given the fact that natural resources
on Earth are being depleted at a staggering pace,
one day or another, we will have to look outwards, if
not today. Situations like these call for a new set of
laws, based on old ones to govern countries’ space
travel and their claims in space.
Environmental factors such as climate change
should also be taken heavily into consideration as
the amount of energy used by launch vehicles is
enormous, especially considering the amount of
energy used by larger space agencies to launch
smaller payloads.
Developing countries will be left behind in this
new era of space travel so, in order to improve
their development, there can be new laws made
to make this transition easier.
The goal of this conference is to find the faults in
the previous treaties regulating outer space travel
and make new laws that cover those problems
also while keeping in mind the problems of
today's world. As delegates, it is your
responsibility to analyse the issue aptly and
further regulate the laws governing space travel
which are outdated for modern advancements.
UNCSW- United Nations
Commission to the Status of
Women
UNCSW- United Nations Commission
to the Status of Women

Agenda : Abortion rights with special

emphasis on developing countries

The United Nations Commission On The Status Of

Women is a committed organisation which aims to
make the world a better place for women. Making
a safe environment for the empowerment of
women by providing them with professional
opportunities to grow as an individual personality is
our motive, and it is our core responsibility to work
on the belief that every human, regardless of their
gender, race, ethnicity and economic background
deserves equality.
Current circumstances around the world might
seem peaceful on the surface, but the depth of the
problem lies in rural regions of 'developed and
developing countries' where extremist
conservatism, and dogmatic beliefs regarding
stereotypes and stigmas are still dominating in the
society due to various reasons, one among them
being the lack of education and general awareness.
Economic development and women empowerment
are interdependent considering the major role that
women play in the development and leadership
abilities of an institution. Giving core emphasis on
the idea of development, freedom of expression
and basic rights speak of the epitome to extensive
growth in every field.Currently, 24 countries across
the world have considered abortion to be an illegal
procedure. These countries are the home to about
90 million (or 5% of) women who fall under the
reproductive age group.
Abortion, being conducted on a woman's body, can
be considered as a right to be given by the law in
order for one to take decisions regarding their own
bodies. As a committee, our agenda is to come up
with a resolution which sits upon the common
grounds of human rights and women
empowerment, taking a strong stance against
executive flaws and towards juridical advancement.
The need for a resolution which emphasizes on the
idea of development and humanitarianism is vital,
and economic and societal differences are key
values for the coming up of this resolution.
