Procedure:

1. Put water in both glasses and place them next to each other

2. Add a very small amount of milk to one of them so it just looks cloudy.

3. Shine the laser pointer through both of them. You should be able to see the beam go through one
glass and not the other. In which one can you see it?

4. Now take the torch and place it on the surface of the glass containing the milk and water, shining
inwards. Look at the light through the liquid from different angles.

Guide question:

1. What happened when you shone a laser light on two glasses full of pure water?

2. Is there a change in the laser light when a spoonful of milk has been added to the second
glass with water?

3. When you put the torch under the glass of milk and water. What did you observe?
