Thirteen Students to undergo Homeschooling

The Department of Education (DepEd) has strengthened its Homeschooling Program as

Alternative Delivery Mode (ADM) of formal education to address the persistent problem of
children, being absent from school and/or dropping out for a variety of reasons.

The Homeschooling Program aims to provide learners with equitable access to quality
basic education through an alternative mode of delivery in a home environment to be managed
primarily by parents or authorized guardians.

Macutay-Palao National High School is committed to implement the said program with
13 student clienteles. They are from different grade levels and sections. Two from Grade Eight
(Love), one from Grade Nine (Hope), two from Grade 10 (Virtue), three from Grade 10 (Joy),
two from Grade 11 (Emerald), two from Grade 12 (Citrine), and one from grade 12 (Topaz).

These learners cannot regularly report to school due to different factors. Four of them
are working, one is at risk of dropping out, one is LSEN, and seven are pregnant/nursing
mother/married. Hence, they opted to be educated at home with the assistance of their
parents or guardians. More so, homeschooling provides flexibility for parents or families in
deciding and addressing children's access issues and provides an opportunity for them to
contribute to making the curriculum learner-centered, inclusive, developmentally appropriate,
responsive, and relevant, while applying pedagogical approaches that are constructivist, inquiry
based, reflective, collaborative, and integrative, which is reflected in Section 5, Republic Act
No.10533 or the Enhanced Basic Education Act.
