Fearless Raniag Softbelles shock Negrenses

The fearless Raniag Rizal Softbelles carried the torch for Kalinga Charter in the 2022 Little
League- Philippine Series, National Softball Tournament for Junior League Division held at the
Manuel Y. Torres Sports Complex in Bago City, Negros Occidental, May 15-30.

The three consecutive wins of the team made them snatch the limelight as top 1 in
bracket B against tough teams of Pasig City (14-12), Davao de Oro (24-14), and Dumaguete City
(24-15) respectively. These paved their way for crossover against top 1 and 2 of bracket A for the
finals.

Battling for third place in the historic crossover-finals against bracket A champion was the
happiest failure that the team had to consider. Team Negrense, the nation’s producer of World
Series softball players was amazed on the manifested bravery of Raniag Softbelles in their early
morning match. “It was a dream come true match, considering that our opponent’s
coaches/trainers were from the Philippine Team -2018 Softball- World Champion player, Ms. Ezra
Jalandoni and her mother, Miss Liza Jalandoni, also a former Philippine Team athlete.”, said
coach Francoise D. Ngayaan, the team’s head coach.

The team was represented by the selected players from Macutay- Palao National High
School and Rizal National School of Arts and Trades headed by the team manager, Gabriel T.
Nagayang Jr., and coaches Francoise D. Ngayaan, Dariel Cabreros and Maricel G. Ventura.

With the goal that was to train and produce quality athletes in the higher meets, the team’s
participation headed by the chairman of the said charter, Hon. Mayor Karl P. Baac and LGU-Rizal
SB-council gave their full support to provide transportation expenses.

The Kalinga Charter entry or registration fee to the said competition was also assisted by
the administration of Governor Ferdinand B. Tubban and Vice Governor –Elect Jocel C. Baac.

The team was also proud of the 100% support and assistance of the student-athletes’
parents, stakeholders and private individuals.
