Prerequisite Content-knowledge: Intercultural Communication


Prerequisite Skill: Develop appreciation for different cultural perspectives through demonstrating effective intercultural communication.

2. How would you handle when you are in a group with a variety of beliefs, culture and etc.?

Pre-lesson Remediation Activity:


1. For Students with Insufficient Level on Prerequisite Content-knowledge and/or Skill(s): Watch videos regarding of showing Intercultural Communication concept and
ask some questions.

2. For Students with Fairly Sufficient Level on Prerequisite Content-knowledge and/or Skill(s): Ask to give an example and ask some questions.

Introduction:
The learner is expected to finish the lesson in four hours or one week. Learners will value lesson, evaluate the purposes and at least, creating an own short story that
depicts the functions of communication.
Content
A. Communication has different functions or purposes. When someone speaks or initiates a conversation, they have a certain purpose in mind and something they want
to
achieve with their message. And because of this, the famous linguist and literary theorist namely Roman Jakobson, formulated a Functions of Communication.
Basically, there are five functions of communication. These are control, social interaction, motivation, emotional expression, and information dissemination.

1. What is the main focus of regulation and control as a function of communication?
2. Enumerate at least 2-3 language forms that can be used to control human behaviour?
3. What is Social Function in communication? What its focus?

4. Enumerate an example that shows the function of Social Interaction in communication.

Chunk 2: Motivation and Emotional Expression

Formative question:
1. How can you define motivational communication in your own words?
2. What are the three ways by which communication can motivate people?
3. What Emotional Expression in communication?
4. Enumerate basic examples where we can identify that are emotional expression in communication.

Learners define the different Functions of Communication in their own words and values/ evaluate each Communication purposes. Expected that leaners about to show case
their speaking/acting skills as they are making at least 2-4 mins short scenes videos that depict the 5 functions of Communication.
