INTRODUCTION TO BUSINESS (Term 1 2022/23)


Class Presentation Activity (Group)
Assessment: Class Participation
Learning Outcomes:
Outline the practical and problem solving skills of entrepreneurship in terms of creativity and
innovation by producing new product or service ideas in a business context.

This activity requires students work in a group of four (4) to:


Your Group Task
For a new product to be successful in the marketplace it must offer more compelling features
and greater quality than competitors’ products. In order for companies to have successful
launches, they must invest a great deal, ranging from thousands of development hours to
millions in marketing costs.
As a future entrepreneur, given the opportunity to start a new business in Malaysia, create
ONE (1) new product or service based on the following:-
 Unique product invention and/or

 Unique service
Note: the product or service is not in Malaysia market yet. You can create a totally new
product/service or add in an improvement to the existing product/service.
Task:
- Read the class materials and notes besides other related online source and methods of
business pitching.
- Select any ONE (1) choice of the proposed business plan above (unique
product/services) to discuss on the proposed business venture by the group.
- Your group is to develop a business proposal sharing your proposed business venture.
- An average of 10 to 12 slides is justified to complete the presentation in 10 to 15
minutes. All members will be evaluated individually although you are to do
presentation in a group. Question and Answer will be asked at the end of the
presentation.
- You are to complete the task by end of day on ( ).
- Submit the coursework activity in the link created in Google Classroom. A slide
per page.
- Presentation to be done in class on (To be Announced)

Suggested Content of Presentation Slides


a) Introduction on the venture you are planning to start upon. (20 marks)
 Name of proposed business (your business name chosen)
 The potentials that you foresee in the industry that’s makes your venture
attractive. (explain if the concept is new and latest? Do you see the planned
business venture will succeed? Why? )
 Reason for the selection of business proposal (share why you find this concept
unique and different than others in the market or different from competitors)

b) Product or service feasibility (30 marks)


 Product or service desirability – needs of your products or services by
consumers or industry. Show that your product/service is highly sought after
by consumers or industry.(describe your product/services and what is special?
Share some images to support and explain from the image of available. Also
share that the product will sure/hopefully be accepted by customers)
 Product/service demand – show trends of demand by consumers or relevant
statistics to support you proposed sales of product/service. (show or explain
that consumers today are looking for new concept of product/services and
your product/services is able to serve the needs)
 Illustration/images of your proposed products/services (show images or
pictures)

c) Industry or Market Feasibility (30 marks)


 Attractiveness of the industry – show statistical spread-sheet or graph to
support and discuss your potential market and market share.
 Analyze the growth potentials of the industry or market
 Undertake Competitor Analysis of at least three (3) competitors if available.

d) Financial and Resource Feasibility (20 marks)


 Resources Needed – available of resources such as manpower; building and
raw materials.
 Total start-up cash needed – the expected amount of overhead required to start
up the venture.
 Overall financial attractiveness of proposed venture – the returns (ROI)
expected on proposed venture (RM xxxxxx and years)
