Animation Business Operation (ANI3002)
Assignment: Business Proposal – Group (presentation + proposal) - 10% + 20%

Business Proposal/plan - May 5th, 2023

Instructions:
As students preparing to enter the multi-million dollar Animation industry, you are required to
work in groups of 4-5 to prepare and present a business proposal for the establishment of an
animation studio.

The presentation, done using any presentation software, should be a summary of the major areas
of the business plan. This is worth 10% of the total 30%. A Google form link will be provided to
facilitate grading by members of the class.

This business plan, worth 20% of the total 30%, will be marked based on the following:

Industry Overview Define the industry, its major products, size (dollar value), 10
major studios, number of persons working in the industry,
requirements for entry, earnings, etc. (this information may be
represented graphically with graphs or charts).
Executive Summary Must be a summary – should be able to get the gist. 10
Business Description Mission and vision statements, concept, goals, value 20
proposition and model, products and services, job roles and
responsibilities
Market Analysis Details of target market, pricing, marketing and sales strategies, 15
distribution and forecast, promotions
Competitor Analysis Identify competitors, competitor analysis grid – source of 20
competitive advantage competitive position
Operations Location, equipment, procedures (inventory, purchasing, 15
customer service etc.), organizational structure, web
infrastructure, development
Financial Analysis Financial statements (start-up expenditure/budget, projections, 10
etc), feasibility

Submissions:
- a soft copy of your business plan
- a software enabled presentation by members of your group highlighting the major areas
of the business plan
o no more than 15 minutes per presentation
o class members will be allowed to ask up to 3 questions of the group. Therefore,
all students are required to be present throughout the entire session
