Thanksgiving history
1
The story told from the point of view of the original
inhabitants of North America reveals that for the 2
tribes and communities, the arrival of the English
settlers and their establishment on the continent 3
brought with it a violent process of territorial
expansion that left millions of fatalities and the
disappearance of the Native American way of life. 4
For them, Thanksgiving is but the beginning of a 5
centuries-long history of oppression and genocide
that led to the loss of their territory, as the invention
of the United States spread westward.

Family gatherings are generally held at the home of the older
relative, with the preparation of a dinner or banquet, and a
prayer of thanksgiving is offered to God for the blessings
3
received during the year.
4
The traditional dish for dinner consists of a roasted and
baked turkey, served with corn, mashed potatoes or sweet
potatoes (sweet potato, sweet potato), cranberry sauce and
5
