Gene continues to have many opportunities to minister within FamilyLIFE and the marriage class we are leading. Just the other day he spent 45 mins on the phone with a father who was feeling overwhelmed with the responsibilities of life. The father was grateful for a listening and sympathetic ear of someone who could understand his desire to be a Godly man, a loving husband and father, and the constant challenge of balancing his job and church responsibilities. Last week Genes position within his department changed. In addition to his previous responsibilities, hes taken on a managingl role for a new team in his department. The great part is, since the team he is leading is brand new, as well as the position, he cant mess up too much- yet.

So far, the 2011 Weekend to Remember Events have brought in more than 27,000 attendees, with approximately 1,100 making salvation decisions for Christ!

IMPACT

Greta and Malachi have enjoyed a sucessful season running track. Genes enjoyed helping coach the field events.

This weekend opened my eyes to things I hadnt known about my wife and our relationship. God convicted me to change key areas of my life. I have re-committed my priorities and life to my wife and family.

NEW BOOK! NEW BOOK! Stepping Up: A Call to Courageous Manhood

ichelle Hill, an Iowa native, friend, and Global Broadcast Manager for FamilyLIFE, provided us with the following update from her recent trip to Ecuador. These are her words:

My husband agreed to reconcile instead of moving forward with divorce. He wants us to go to counseling and wants to attend church with me again. He believes we belong together because God created us for one another. -Peoria

In January 2010, I had the chance to be part of a fact-finding trip to Quito, Ecuador. Why Quito? Quito is headquarters for the radio station HCJB-Globals Spanish ministry. HCJB takes care of the re-creation, production, and distribution of Vida en Familia Hoy - the Spanish version of FamilyLIFE Today. The second morning there, I sat in a meeting with the HCJB team. For two hours tears streamed down my face as each person shared how God is using FamilyLIFE in their lives. Their stories were so impacting- marriages healed, relationships with God strengthened, parenting issues resolved. God is speaking truth through every single transcript. God is using Vida en Familia Hoy to create disciples and multiply His words on relationships - relationships between spouses, parents, children, and most importantly, our relationship with Him. The team also shared how a radio station in Peru began airing Vida en Familia Hoy to combat the attack of witchcraft. What was the spell? To break up marriages and families! I was also told of a professor at the local university who uses the broadcast in her ethics class: students are required to listen to the programs and write a paper on the value found in them. Currently, there is no other Spanish radio program like Vida en Familia Hoy that talks frankly about marriage and family from Gods standpoint while holding strongly to the truths of Scripture. HCJB is an incredible ministry, and it was a joy to spend a week witnessing how God is using this team to share His precious gift, to declare His praises, and to bring Him glory.
