Gender equality, refer to the equality in a matter of human right and opportunities obligations for

woman and men. This is according to (side 1997). Gender equality, is the absence of
discrimination on the basis of persons sex in authority opportunities allocation of resources or
benefits and access to services and sameness in ever thing

Culture, is a shared philosophies, ideologies, values, beliefs, assumption and norms. This
explanation is according to (Edgar H Schein). Culture, is the patterns of shared beliefs and values
which gives a meaning for the members of an institution. And provide them with the behavior
rules in their organization this is according to (Stanley M Davis 1984)

Paradox, is a statement or proposition that seems self-contradictory but in reality, expresses of a

possible truth. Compatible, refers to two things that able to exist or occur together without
conflict.

Therefore, the paradox that state that “gender equality is only compatible to the western culture
rather than African culture”. This paradox is not true because gender equality is not only
practices in western culture but also African culture. There fore the following are the evidence
that support that gender equality is not only compatible to the western culture but also African
culture

Political issues, the gender equality in political issues in both western culture and Africa culture
is due to the existence of free and fair election in democracy, and leadership issues. Democracy
in African culture both men and women engage in contesting for power also in conducting
campaign example in Tanzania there is free and fair election that allow any people to choose and
to be chosen without consider gender, this is due to the presence of multiparty system. Also, in
the issue of leadership in Africa there is equality between men and women because there are
some women like Joyce Banda in Malawi is the former president.in western culture both men
and women participant in political matters because both genders have already held the president
position example in British the former president queen Elizabeth, also councilor of Germany
Angela Merkle, therefore the participation of both women and men prove that gender equality is
not only compatible in western culture but also in African culture.

In education context, in education context also there gender equality in both western and Africa
culture ,western country like Britain and Germany those are all equal chance in education issues
such as to learn, to govern, also to own properties also African culture give equal education to
access all issues in education context ,there is equal chance to all gender both male and female
example it proved by presence of those schools and education institutes owned by female like St
marry school also Kialegee secondary school and others, another issue that prove that there is
equality in education opportunity in education context is presence of a lot of female who are
head of ministries in education sector and professor like Pro Joyce Ndalichako. hence the
equality between men and women acquire prove that gender equality is not only compatible in
western culture but also in African couture.

Equality in issues of economy, both western and Africa country were equal chances in all gender
male and female example the equality in properties ownership and employment opportunities
hence there is qualification in issues of employment opportunities that allow both male and
female to acquire it, that is practiced in western even also in Africa for today women are given
chance to acquire employment in order to fulfill their requirements example Uganda constitution
in 1995 has been decreed a women constitution because it guarantees all the principles needed by
women to facilitate their empowerment, development, dignity and right (2002:228), this seen
that both western and Africa countries there are mixing gender working place and all works
such as driving, accountants, coaching, nursing, and touching, were practiced in both gender also
equal opportunity in properties ownership between male and female in both western and Africa
countries example Scotland, wales, France, also in Africa countries like Tanzania, south Africa,
Nigeria and others both there are equal gender opportunities in all gender. Hence the equality
between men and women in generating economic activities prove that gender equality is not only
compatible in western culture but also in African culture.

Equality in decision making, the participation in decision making is in family lever also in
community lever, there fore the participation of both men and women in various decision in
family and society in African countries example Tanzania show that there is gender equality.
Also, in western culture there is gender equality in decision making between men and women in
all aspect example in united states of America, china there is equal right to participate in decision
making. Hence this prove that gender equality is not only compatible in western culture but also
in African culture.

Apart from the explanation above therefore gender equaliy is very important in the society, so
the following are the importance of gender equality, bring development in the societies because
all people are equal in owning property hence rise competition among the people, gender
equality promote human right to the people all human being have equal chance to participate
various issues such political, social culturally and economic issues in the society also this
because gender equality it eradicate all form of discrimination in the societies example
exploitation, oppression, and humiliation.
