Art has been closely related to the
history of humanity since ancient
times. Whether in the form of oil
landscapes, marble sculptures or
graffiti, art in all its forms touches
people's lives in one way or another.

In the history of mankind, art is one of


the most powerful and widespread
things, because of its great impact on
human life and society, not only with
a specific kind, but all forms of art
affect humanity.

Art gives the individual a moral value, regardless of its type and the extent of his mastery of it, as
it gives the individual a sense of the value of what has been achieved, and mastery of all kinds of
arts may contribute to material profit.

Definition of art
Art is a creative work produced by man, and it is one of the types of human cultures, because it
is a way for a person to express what is inside him, and not a way to express his need for the
requirements of life, and although some scholars see art as very important in a person’s life, and
its importance is no less important than the importance of food and drink. , As art is a creative
work produced by a person through the formation of materials and shapes to express his thoughts,
or translate his feelings, or what he sees around him, and in this article, we will learn about the
most important types of art in the world, in addition to knowing the importance that art of all kinds
constitutes in The life of the individual and society as a whole.

Kinds of art
• The performing arts which include dance, theater, opera and music.
• Literary arts such as stories, novels, and others.
• The visual arts which comprise a diverse range, from sculpture to photography to oil paints
and everything as such.
• Calligraphy, collage and collage writing.
• Applied arts, such as interior design, fashion design, jewelry design, decoration, knitting
and embroidery, stained glass making, ceramics, in addition to carpet making, decoration,
and furniture making
The role of art in society
• Enhancing learning capabilities and enhancing creativity.
• Promote and enrich the values of diversity and encourage pluralism.
• Influencing values related to political and social choices that enhance community
cooperation.
• Addressing the differences between cultures through dialogue, influential symbolism, and a
shared experience that the arts offer.
• Defending the principles of freedom of expression and social responsibility and their role in
serving individuals.
• Art encouraged investment and attracted investors.
• Create new job opportunities and increase the workforce.
• Make an important contribution to increasing the GDP.

The importance of art in human life


• Art plays an important role in improving the psychological and nervous state of a person.
• It is an important tool in creating a person's awareness of major issues.
• One of the most important things in which the arts benefit in a practical way is production
at the level of society as a whole, as the development of the artistic sense increases the
imagination of designers and workers in developing works and improving their quality.
• Improving language skills in the dramatic representation of stories and novels and in
increasing student readiness to learn writing and reading.
• Enhancing the understanding of mathematics. Several studies have shown that music is
linked to the development of logical skills and the understanding of relationships between
objects.
• Visual arts and dance help develop the skills of creativity, thinking and imagination.
• Art relieves tension and improves the mood of the individual, so he uses it to express his
feelings, thoughts and beliefs.

The social and cultural significance of art


The social importance of art is its ability to
improve the living conditions of individuals,
and participation in various artistic activities
strengthens ties in society and increases its
cohesion, as for the cultural importance of art
lies in its ability to promote a set of positive
values in the souls of individuals, such as freely
expressing beliefs, increasing tolerance, and
rejecting Intolerance.
The psychological importance of art
Engaging in artistic work leads to relieving tension and stress, and improving mood, in addition
to that, people who work in the artistic sectors of all kinds feel self-esteem and satisfaction stems
from their ability to produce represented by their artistic works.

The economic importance of art


The economic importance of art lies in creating new job opportunities and increasing the
workforce, which greatly contributes to increasing the
gross domestic product and developing the country's
economy, for example; In California alone, artistic
revenues constitute the equivalent of 7.8% of the GDP,
in addition to that, art has an important role in
supporting the tourism sector, as travelers for artistic
purposes stay for a longer time and at a higher rate of
financial spending, compared to other tourists.

The educational significance of art


The introduction of art as a basic subject within the school curriculum contributes to enhancing
students' learning capabilities, and the educational benefits of art can be summarized as follows:
• Improving language skills: -
The dramatic representation of stories and novels, for example, contributes to
increasing students' readiness to learn to write and read, in addition to the fact that
studying drama arts positively affects the student's language abilities.
• Enhancing mathematics understanding: -
Numerous recent studies show that music is linked to the development of logical skills
and the understanding of relationships between objects.
• Improve cognitive abilities: -
The visual arts and dance help develop the skills of creativity, thinking and
imagination.
• Increased desire to learn: -
Arts in its various forms contribute to enhancing competition and the values of teamwork
among students, and reducing the likelihood of them dropping out of school.
conclusion
Art is an expression and a cultural, educational and social message, the language of civilization
and its most important form. For the way we understand societies and study their development, it
is a cultural production and a cultural expression that has conditions and laws that distinguish it
from other production or an ordinary expression, so art is an extraordinary expression that is an
expression or production that is striking and sensational. Art must reflect taste, knowledge and
message to be art aimed at all human sensations, emotions, minds and perceptions over the ages
and on different cultures.
