KIMBERLY JACKSON

4/1/23

Hi! My name is Mrs. Jackson and I am so excited to be your child’s teacher this year. I am
married and have two boys, ages 10 and 7. I have a bachelor’s degree from Lamar University in
Beaumont, Tx. Some of my favorite hobbies are reading, cooking, spending time with my family,
and watching Astros baseball.

This year in First Grade, your child will learn so much! In order to get the most out of our time
at school, there are some class rules that will need to be followed.
1. Read and follow directions
2. Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself
3. Work and play in a safe manner
By working together and following these rules, we can make sure that each child in the
classroom is being given the best opportunity to learn.

This year your child will be given a numerical grade on their report card for Language Arts,
Math, Science, and Social Studies. This report card grade will be made up of tests, quizzes, and
assignments. The grading scale is as follows:
A: 90-100
B: 80-89
C: 70-79
D:65-69
F: 0-64
Homework will be assigned, but not for a grade. However, it is important for students to do the
homework to reinforce what they learned at school. Homework will be assigned Monday-
Thursday and should be turned in on time. Homework should not take more than 30 minutes to
complete. If your child gets stuck or is to the point of getting frustrated or upset, have them
circle what they are stuck on, and I will review it with them the next day. Homework should not
seem like a punishment or take hours to get through. I will give out little rewards for completing
the homework each week.
 If your child is absent, they will have a folder with everything that they missed inside.
Anything that was for a grade will be made up at school, and things that were not a
grade will be sent home for practice. If they missed a test, it will be made up during
school hours. I send out reminders the day before a test, so if your child is absent on
test day, please make sure they come prepared to take it the day they return to school.

If you need to get in contact with me, the quickest way is through email. I will check my email
before school, during conference time (8:35-9:40), and after school. If it is urgent, please call
the school’s front office to get a message to me. If you would like to set up a conference, please
email me and we will get a day and time set up that works for you.

Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. I am looking forward to a great year with your
student. If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know. I am confident that
together, we can make this a successful year! Mrs. Jackson
