DETAILED LESSON PLAN

MATHEMATICS 7
(Second Quarter)
November 16, 2022

I. Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
a. identify the different types of units use in measuring length,
b. convert measurements from one unit to another; and
c. perform the right way of using conversion table.

II. Subject Matter:

a. Topic: Measuring Length
b. Reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZwMDYDpXX4
c. Materials: Laptop, Ruler, Measuring Tape, Conversion Table
d. Teaching Strategies:

III. Procedures:
Teacher’s Activities Students’ Activities
A. Greetings

“Good Morning Class!” “Good Morning, Ma’am Angel”

B. Prayer

“Everyone please stand up and let’s pray. “Yes Ma’am, classmates let’s pray.
Ms. __________, can you please lead the In the name of the Father, the Son and the
prayer?” Holy Spirit. Thank you Lord for all the
blessings you have given us, for the
knowledge you put in our minds and for
guiding us everyday. May You be the center
of today’s activity. Give our teacher
wisdom and strength to make this
successful. We ask this in the name of
Jesus. Amen.”

B. Attendance
“May I ask the secretary to know if there “We have no absentees Ma’am, all of us are
are any absents for today? Ms. ________ is present.”
there any absent?”

“That’s good to hear class.”

C. Review

“Before we proceed on our lesson, let us

find out what is your idea on the topic that
we are going to tackle later.”

“Class, who among of you has the Students will raise their hand and share their
knowledge about measurement and prior knowledge about the topic.
measuring tools?”

“Very Good! In addition, with that

measurement means the size, length and
amount of object.”

“For example, Mr. _______, please stand up

and come here infront.”

“Can you measure the two objects I posted “Yes, Ma’am.”

at the board?”

“For the first picture measure it using a “Done Ma’am. For the first picture it

picture.” handspan.”

“Good job. Thank you, Mr. _________.”

“What Mr. _______ did is already “Yes Ma’am.”

measurement. Do you understand class?”

D. Motivation

“For you to be able to familiarize with

measurements, we will be having a game.”

“I will be going to group you into two. The “Yes Ma’am.”

1st and 2nd column will be the group 1 and
for our group 2 the 3rd and 4th column. Is
that okay for all of you?”

“The game called how far can you? The “Of course, Ma’am.”
mechanics of the game goes like these: with
all the things you have, create a line in just
2 minutes. Using measuring tape, get the
exact measurement of your line when the
timer stops. The group with the longest line
will win. Do you understand?”

---------------THE GAME STARTS----------- ---------------THE GAME ENDS--------------

E. Presentation of the Lesson

“We’re done with our game. Class, upon Some students will raise their hand and give
playing the game what did you learn about their own understanding.
measurement?”

“Very Good, Class! However, all the things “Yes, Ma’am”

that you said are the basic measurement.
Everyone, please eyes infront and listen to
my discussion.”

F. Lesson Proper

“Let us first define the word measurement.”

“Mr.________, please read what is Student will read what is on the presentation
presented on the screen.”

“Very Good”

“We have two systems of measurement, the

Metric system and the English system.”

“When we say Metric System, it is a

measurement based on the meter and on the
kilogram, example units of this system are
meter (m) and centimeter (cm); while
English units, example units of this are feet
and yard.”

“Regarding to the proper use of measuring

tools; which is the ruler and meterstick are
most common to us.”

“One example of measuring too is a ruler. “Yes, Ma’am”

Do you have a ruler?”

“With the ruler you have, kindly get the

length of your notebooks. Use the most
appropriate unit. As you can see, the ruler
as well as the meterstick have 2 common
parts. The first one, the upper part is for the
Metric System Units in the form of cm and
dm and the other one, the lower part is the
English System unit which is the inches.”
“Do you understand class?” “Understand Ma’am”

“So let us move on with the conversion.”

------------PRESENTATION OF THE ------------PRESENTATION OF THE

TABLE OF MEASUREMENT--------------- TABLE OF MEASUREMENT---------------

Table of Measurement/Conversion Table:

Metric System Conversion Table
10 mm 1 cm
10 cm 1 dm
10 dm 1m
10 m 1 dkm
10 dkm 1 hm
10 hm 1 km
1000 mm 1m
10 cm 1m
10 dm 1m
1/10 dkm 1m
1/100 hm 1m
1/1000 km 1m

Conversion Table for English to Metric System Units

1 inch 2.54 c
1 foot 12 inches
1 yard 3 feet
1 meter 39.37 inches
1 mile 5280 ft.
1 mile 1.6 km

• This table is illustrated for the following examples:

1. 5.8 m = _____ cm
5.8 m × = 580 cm

2. 68 dkm = _____ dm
68 dkm × × = 6800 dm

3. 2 miles = _____ m
2 miles × × = 3200 m

4. 1.5 m = _____ inches

1.5 m × × = 59 inches
G. Application

Direction: Convert the following units of measurements. Use the table as your guide so you
can easily answer the item. Show your solution.

1. 85 miles to meter =
2. 800 meter to inches =
3. 35 km to feet =
4. 500 m to dkm =
5. 6 miles to cm =

H. Generalization
“Is there anyone who can summarize our Students will raise their hands
lesson for today.”

“Ms. _____, share to your classmates what “Generalizing our topic for today about
you have learn on our discussion.” measurement. Measurement is knowing the
size, length and amount of something. It
also has two system; the Metric system
which includes cm and mm, the other one is
the English system where we use inch, foot
and yard in measuring objects or something.
The common tools for measurement are
ruler, measuring tape and meterstick.”

“Very Good!”

“Is there anyone who can also share what Students raise their hands
he/she learned?”

“Okay, Mr._______” “Aside from what she has learned earlier, I

also learn how to convert specific
measuring unit properly with the help of
conversion table.”

“Very Good! It seems that you listen

properly in our discussion and you learned
things about measurement.”

“Is there still any question?” “No more questions Ma’am”

“So can we now have our quiz?” “Yes, Ma’am”

IV. Evaluation
Direction: Using the conversion table, convert the given value into different= measuring
units. Show your solution.
1. 108 inches to yard =
2. 5 feet to inches =
3. 5 miles to yards =
4. 126 720 inches to miles =
5. 752 miles to km =

V. Assignment:
1. In one whole sheet of paper, draw any type of measuring tool. Identify its usage and what
unit/s of measurement it has.
2. Review our next topic “Measure of Mass”
