Elementary Arabic Language Teacher


Starting August 15, 2017

RAS is now accepting applications for a part-time elementary Arabic teacher for the 2017-2018 school year,
beginning August 15, 2017. Fluency in English is required. Moroccan residency - Carte de Sejour required. For

NATURE OF WORK
To motivate each student to develop competencies, knowledge and skills in listening and comprehending,
speaking, reading and writing in Arabic, in accordance with each student’s ability and prior knowledge of the
target language to students in Grades 1 to Grade 5 (ages 6-10).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES


 License in Langue et Littérature Arabe
 Centre Pédagogique Régional (CPR) or other teaching certification
 Fluency in spoken and written English
 Fluency in spoken and written Arabic
 Current pedagogical knowledge and experience in language instruction
 Effective communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
 Effective classroom management skills

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan and implement elementary Arabic language classes for both Arabophones and non-Arabophones:

 Develops lessons and materials compatible with the school’s instructional philosophy.
 Teaches skills and knowledge in language instruction, utilizing the course of study outlined by the school
including oral comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing.
 Provides learning experiences which develops communication skills, utilizing multiple strategies and
resources.
 Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to provide a productive classroom
environment.
 Evaluates student progress in oral comprehension, speaking, reading and writing in the target language in
relationship to the level being taught.
 Communicates with parents and teachers on student progress.

General responsibilities:
 Supervises students in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned work day.
 Participates in curriculum and other school-wide committees including the sponsorship of student
activities.
 Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
