Would I pass my test this time? Am I fitting in with them? Did I said something wrong ? these are just
a few example of a person experiencing anxiety
Anxiety is your body’s natural response to stress. It’s a feeling of fear or apprehension about what’s
to come. Anxiety is also feeling of unease, that can be mild or severe.

It’s normal to feel anxious about moving to a new place, starting a new job, or taking a test. This type
of anxiety is unpleasant, but it may motivate you to work harder and to do a better job. Ordinary
anxiety is a feeling that comes and goes, but does not interfere with your everyday life.

In the case of an anxiety disorder, the feeling of fear may be with you all the time. It is intense and
sometimes debilitating.

This type of anxiety may cause you to stop doing things you enjoy. In extreme cases, it may prevent
you from entering an elevator, crossing the street, or even leaving your home. If left untreated, the
anxiety will keep getting worse.

Anxiety is a key part of several different disorders. These include:

phobiaA phobia is an excessive and irrational fear reaction. If you have a phobia, you may experience
a deep sense of dread or panic when you encounter the source of your fear. The fear can be of a
certain place, situation, or object. Unlike general anxiety disorders, a phobia is usually connected to
something specific.

Social anxiety People with this disorder have trouble talking to people, meeting new people, and
attending social gatherings. They fear being judged or scrutinized by others. They may understand
that their fears are irrational or unreasonable, but feel powerless to overcome them.

Social anxiety is different from shyness.

Some research has shown that panic disorder may be genetically linked, feel sudden, overwhelming
terror that has no obvious cause

People often double check to make sure they’ve locked the front door or always wear their lucky
socks on game days — simple rituals or habits that make them feel more secure.

OCD goes beyond double checking something or practicing a game day ritual. Someone diagnosed
with OCD feels compelled to act out certain rituals repeatedly, even if they don’t want to — and
even if it complicates their life unnecessarily.
