What-
Your map will include the major STAKEHOLDERS (players) of the System and will show
the linkage between/across players. What boxes you include on your map is up to you.  
Each node (box) on your map should represent a different "stakeholder" within the US
public health (and healthcare) system.  It's up to you to define who the stakeholders within
our health system are.  
Potential stakeholders could include:

1. Government (Federal, State, County, or Local)


2. Governmental entities (i.e., Departments, Agencies)
3. Private companies (within and outside the health care industry) 
4. Community-based organizations
5. Interest groups
1. Trade Association (an interest group that represents people of a trade for an
example, the Medical Association, Primary Care Association)
2. Advocacy Groups (an interest group that represents people of similar
interest/characteristics)
6. Individuals (best to note as "type" such as Physician, Elderly, Poor child)
7. Other - who else do you think has a "stake" in our public health system?  

B. Stakeholder Description-
Linked to each node, you will describe the stakeholder.  At a minimum, stakeholder
information should include:
1. STAKEHOLDER NAME:  
a. Add website info (URL) so you can find it later
 
2. DESCRIPTION OF STAKEHOLDERS:
a. What type of entity is this stakeholder?  (See section above for examples of what a
stakeholder group maybe). 
b. Give specifics on:

1. Governance type:  government, private


2. Financial type:  government, for-profit, not-for-profit
3. Level of engagement: nationally, statewide, locally, community-based, etc.

c. Mission/Charge

1. What is the Stakeholder responsible for OR what does the Stakeholder want to
accomplish?
2. Who does the Stakeholder represent?  Who are its members?

 
3. DISCUSSION:
a. What role does this stakeholder play within the system?
b. Did you review a position within this stakeholder entity for your career journal?
