Sub: Reply in respect to the letter dated 22.02.2023 for choosing Mughal Family Tree
in English Project of Class XI and in reference to : PMOPG/E/2023/0028703 dated 01-
02-2023.

Ref No. CBSE/ROG/PG/E/2023 -379/22335 dated 22.02.2023.

Respected Sir/Madam,

It is stated that the complainant namely Mr. Suprakash Chakraborty father of

Mr. Aniket Chakraborty who is a student of Class XI in our school, raised an concern in
regards to choice of topic in the English Project (Mughal Family Tree) in Class XI given
by our teacher Ms. Jolly Ghoshal. It is humbly stated the said English Project was given
with the aims and objectives to:

 Communicate effectively and appropriately in real-life situation.

 Use English effectively for study purpose across the curriculum.
 Develop and integrate the use of the four language skills i.e. Reading,
Listening, Speaking, Writing.
 Develop interest in and appreciation of Literature.

And as far as the Topic is concerned which is the Mughal Family Tree, our
Teacher choose a historic theme which would help our students to evaluate the family
tree pattern in a chronological findings which ultimately will help them to use better
choice of vocabulary, accuracy in grammar and also the subject being a part of History
subject it would be modest and accessible. Also, the said Project work was within the
parameters for Assessment in Listening, Speaking and Writing Skills. Also, our teacher
had no intention of influencing or manipulating upon the said topic concerned which of
she is being misjudged.

Also, Respected Sir/Madam I would like to break down my observations in the

simplest form as much I can which is, History can be divided into 2 (Two) parts
basically:

1. Factual part
2. Logical part
The factual part is basically dates, years, names, titles and so on. They leave no
scope for manipulation and are therefore are mostly same in all the authentic sources
of history. So, you can say that they are more or less accurate.

Now, coming to the logical part. The logical part is basically the story part and
is open ended. The story part is open to scrutiny and allows people to interpret history
in all possible ways. That’s why there are versions of history in different perspectives.
But this trait of history makes it a double edged sword i.e. on one hand, it makes
history interesting and makes it awesome for discussion but on the other hand, it
creates confusion and creates conflict.

As such, the said English Project on the Family Tree of the Mughal was in par
with the Factual part and we did not encourage any kind of manipulation or biased
information to our students.

It deeply saddens me as an educator being in this noble profession, that we are

being misinterpreted and judged based on our sincere work one project work. We are
not glorifying or providing biased information to our students as alleged by the
concerned parent. We are following the syllabus and the education model as set up
the Central Board Of Education (CBSE).

Hopefully, in the near future project works through the diversity in our choice
of topics we will be able to clear the misconception.

Yours Sincerely
