Yes I’m living in Poblacion 1, Calatagan, batangas. I am 20 years old. I am
in middle class. I do love swimming. It’s relaxing but here in Poblacion 1, I
don’t do swimming here because of their dirty environment. The water is so
dirty. I’m sure that there is no on e that will enjoy the environment. Yes, I
always care on our environment especially because I know this was a gift
from god. They don't have care in their surroundings. They just throw and
throw, without even thinking on what’s going to happen on their
environment and also on their health. What the government doing to clean
this was implementing rules and regulations, like taking penalty fee for
those people who get caught t hrowing their trashes in the ocean. Not just
that if the barangay catched them throwing garbages in the ocean they will
clean within the area for three consecutive days. I think the water was
polluted because of those trashes and garbage na dumadaloy from
kabahayan to the ocean. It has a big effect especially for those people
living near the area, because I read a lot of article that water pollution can
cause death. When I’m seeing this kind of mess in our environment, I
always feel sorry because we don’t know when this nature will get revenge
on us. There is a lot of cases of sickness here like skin decease, stomach
aches and dengue. In our family we cant allow dirtyness so we have
compost pit at the back of our house, yesmaybe it’s not that big but it still
can help us a lot on disposing our trashes. Yes of course, I do really want
to see this part of water blue and cleaned again. I think when this area get
cleaned I can see my community happy and lively again while swimming in
our ocean.

I'm not from Poblacion 1, but I'm also from Calatagan Batangas and I
have some friends who lives in Poblacion 1. I am 23 years old. We're in
the middle class status. I do really love swimming but it’s been a long
time here in poblacion 1, because the water was too polluted on that
area. Yes ofcourse, I do really hate dirty environments. Ofcourse not,
who will enjoy with this we do really have beautiful nature but what we’re
seiing in here was mess and pollution. Imnot from here but the only
reason I’m seiing was the people living in the area didn’t have any
discipline on themselves. Yes, I know that this pollution can harm those
people near the area it can cause diseases for each and everyone.
Noong wala pang pandemic the barangay officials we're doing coastal
cleanup on that area halos monthly yon. . I’m just a tourist in here so I
didn’t know if there are any cases of sickness in the area but it is not
impossible in this area because I’m sure that a lot of bacteria were living
in this polluted part of the ocean. In our house we’re also near in a body
of water like them, we are segregating our trashes by having different
trashcans for bio-degradable and non bio-degradable. I think the cause
of this pollution was also those people int this area it is because if they
are not negligent and if they have discipline this pollution won’t happen in
this area. Yes ofcourse, because this body of water was so beautiful
especially for those tourists. I think it would be great if we’re seeing a
beautiful body of water where we can swim and another thing is this can
be a great source of income for those people living this area beacause
this part of ocean can be a great habitat for fishes.

Yes, I am from Poblacion 1, Calatagan, Batangas. I’m 24 years old. I
think we are in the middle class in terms of status in life. Yes, I still
remember in the past we're swimming and catching fishes without any
worries, because the trashes on that are wasn't too many. I really cant
stand those messy and dirty places, in our house cleanliness is a must
and for me dirty places was a sore in my eyes. I don't want to see our
sea spread like this, I want to see the people who enjoy it like before that
it's still clean. From what I know the water became polluted because the
households in the area didn’t show any care for the environment. Then
other people from our area showing negligence about this. Of course,
when the environment is always unclean first of all, it can be inhabited by
mosquitoes that can cause dengue. The members of the barangay was
implementing coastal cleanups and for those people who get caught
throwing theyre recievin penalties. Maybe the first thing that comes to my
mind is regret because the ocean has been neglected. Yes, there are
many locals who have infected their stomachs such as diarrhea and
vomiting. They just throw garbage in the trash and then just set it on fire.
These garbage can only count in the past for the people around here,
sometimes they just throw it away and then when the garbage increased,
they forgot the discipline. I want to see that it is clean and very attractive.
So that our barangay can be proud again to those tourists who visit here.

I'm a tourist from Rosario, Batangas, then we just visit Poblacion 1,
Calatagan often when there is a fiesta celebration or a party with
relatives. I am 19 years old. Our family is only in the middle class. No,
because I haven't tried it since because when we went there that part
of the sea was dirty. Of course, our nature deserves to be taken care
of and loved. No, because people and tourists like us will only enjoy it
more if it is cleaned so that not a single mess can be seen. I just
noticed that they only have a few garbage cans in the streets of the
barangay, so maybe they just spread the garbage which just goes to
the sea. I don't notice what the government is doing but there are
warnings written like "Bawal Magtapon ng Basura Dito". When I see
that dirty body of water, I wonder if it's so much fun to swim there if it's
ever clean and there's no garbage at all. One time my auntie called me
because she had diarrhea and she said her son vomited because he
drank water from that body of water that was polluted. In our house we
simply have a trash can and then we collect everything there and then
we have a deep pit we don't throw away all our garbage. Of course for
those around that sea as well, as long as they don't have discipline, the
water situation will might get worse. Of course, every time we visit our
relatives, we can enjoy it because you already have the sea one step

I'm a citizen of Poblacion 1, Calatagan Batangas, I am 22 yrs old. In terms of
status in life, I am in a middle class. I really don't like swimming in this kind of
body of water, so it is not my hobby. As a citizen of this place, I always care
in my environment. And of course I didn't enjoy this polluted environment.
The reason why this is polluted because of the people leaving near the
seashore was irresponsible of their waste. And It will affect their daily life,
they might get sick and they might not get good harvest of sea foods. There's
only one safety measure that our government implement and that is coastal
clean-up. While my thoughts about this polluted area, I'm not seeing any
better future for this area as long as the situation this will remain. The time
will come that we will not get any benefits on the seawater that are belongs
to pob1. I know there are cases of sickness in this area, people are getting
mild skin diseases, mostly fisher folks. I think the trashes that pollutes the
water came from the community living near the area. As a citizen of this
place, Definitely, I want to see it again being blue and clean, because it was
part of my childhood. I want to see the future generation enjoys having a
picnic and swimming there. Also, if it is clean many sea foods were be able
to gather from there. The main reason why it is polluted is because the
people living near the area are not highly oriented about segregation of
waste. We know that coastal clean-up is implemented every year but it isn't
enough. I suggest that the barangay officials should held a community
meeting about proper segregation of waste as a precautionary measures.
Also, if we can lend a budget, we should put trash bins and signage near the
polluted area.

because we all know that humans is the main source sometimes they cannot
discipline their own self to avoid throwing trash in the sea and also the chemicals
or in the industrial waste. "Start a compost pile" through this we can reduce or
avoid throwing waste in the ocean and it doesn’t have to be a big hassle and
doesn’t have to smell badly. There was possible way that we can implement to
prevent water pollution like: do not dispose of household chemicals or cleaning
agents down the sink or toilet, avoid using a garbage disposal. Keep solid wastes
solid and make a compost pile from vegetable scraps.

love to travel and I’m always visiting some place where we can see
bodies of water. I always like to visit a place with a clean environment,
because I truly care for our nature and environment, so when I visit
this place in Poblacion 1, Calatagan, Batangas, I am very
disappointed. I can't imagine myself loving that kind of environment.
Dirty, and the people out there needs more discipline. They just throw
dirty stuff and that not good and healthy. I’m not enjoying this polluted
environment. I think this was polluted because those people living
near this are doesn’t care on their environment. It can cause
diseases that can affect their health. So for us to be safe, they’re
conducting some coastal clean-ups in that polluted area. And me, as
a tourist, i cannot enjoy myself here, do swimming in that kind of
water. And also, I don’t know why the people who lives there manage

am belonged in the middle class. Yes we always used to come here
when there was almost no garbage floating around. Of course
because it benefits us so much because here we take our spell every
time we go through nothing. I don't want to see it being neglected little
by little, I'm sure no one would want to see the ocean gradually being
destroyed. Maybe that’s why it becomes polluted also because of the
people near here they keep destroying because they don’t have self
discipline and they don’t dispose of their garbage properly so our
ocean continues to be destroyed. Barangay officials put up signage
and carried out a coastal clean up. I was disappointed because the
sea that used to be so clean is now slowly deteriorating and becoming
more and more dirty and no longer useful to many. Yes, because
many young people get sick because of the smell and most of the
garbage is infested with mosquitoes due to dengue. One of the things
my family does is properly dispose of the garbage so that it can go
everywhere, especially in the ocean. This is because of the garbage

I'm just a tourist and we only go swimming in the summer. I’m 20
years of age. We are in the middle class. Yes I do really love
swimming. Of course, our environment is important, in all my travels, I
always remember the cleanest. No, when I went to Poblacion 1, for
vacation I was not happy with what I saw. The water is almost black
and it's still full of garbage, you can see that there is a lack of people's
care. From what I see, the main reason is probably the garbage that
has almost accumulated in the sea. When I hastened to go, the other
people were cleaning, then there were signs that it was forbidden to
throw or litter on the beach. When I saw the polluted sea, it just came
to my mind, eh, maybe this sea is very beautiful if it's as clean as the
others I've been to. As a tourist, I haven't heard of anyone being sick,
but if ever a child can eat or drink something from that water, it's very
harmless. We are segregating our garbage by separating the bio and
non-biodegradable and then in the compost pit the decomposable and
the non-decomposable are burned. Probably one of the net causes is
the influx of garbage from other beaches and then the ones in the

think we just belong to the middle class. Yes, we used to go here
almost every day to take a bath before it was polluted. Yes, very
much so, I’m concerned about the environment that we are living in, it
seems like the bad feeling that you see messy around. Of course I
don’t want to see that dirty or cluttered around. What I want is to see
the sea then without any clutter or dirt. All I know is that it's not that
dirty because, almost then, you could take a bath and catch fish.

I’m not from Poblacion 1, Calatagan, Batangas but most of my cousins
are from here. I am 24 years old. We belong to the middle class. Yes,
so we often come here for swimming because the sea is so beautiful
here. Yes, of course I don't want to see my environment dirty and
messy. Of course not because who else would enjoy seeing that the
ocean is full of garbage and floating plastics. I think so it becomes
polluted is because people here let their garbage land in the ocean so
the garbage that floats here continues to increase because also most of
them just throw garbage here many of the people here are
undisciplined so it is no longer useful. The possible effect on the people
here is that they can get sick because of the garbage and the children
can become malnourished because this is the environment they have.
They are having a coastal clean up to reduce garbage here and they
are implementing policies so that somehow the people here can have
discipline. I think if they just have the discipline they can restore the
beauty of the ocean and if they dispose of garbage properly it will not
go to the sea and it will be kept well and benefited by the majority. Yes,
because of what I hear from them, many people have diarrhea and
vomiting due to pollution. We dispose of waste in the proper trash can
and separate what can be recycled. It is also because of the people
near it and the people who do not know the ocean so it is full of
garbage. Yes I would love to see it clean again and with tourists like us
we will encourage more people to come here.
