4.1.3.1 Power On
1) Power ON the TC (see Figure 4-1).

The POWER ON sequence takes approx 1 minute, and upon

completion, the payload CCD/FLIR image is presented according to
default settings.

The TMFD screen displays briefly the TC software version.

2) Power ON the MCB. The Toplite Image Processor (TIP) application

starts up.

3) Power ON the TMFD (see Figure 4-3). If no video appear on the

TMFD shout of the TMFD and turn it on again.

When the TMFD is powered ON, the TMFD POWER ON page is

briefly displayed showing the TMFD software version (see Figure
4-7).

The TMFD and TC versions disappear from the screen and the EOP
version appears briefly on the bottom of the screen as a line of small,
white print.

The payload starts the PBIT.

Note
The FLIR achieves operational readiness after
approx 10 min – when reaching operational
temperature.

4) Verify that the video signal and PBIT screen are displayed (see
Figure 4-7).

After the PBIT, the TIP transfers automatically to PWND (PWND

appears under U3 in yellow).

4.1.3.2 Drift Calibration

After power-on, or if conditions during operation require, the EOP drift is
examined (see Para. 4.1.3.2.1) and corrected by Gyro Calibration (Para.
4.1.3.2.3) and Joystick Calibration (Para. 4.1.3.2.2).

4.1.3.2.1 Drift Test

Perform the following procedure to test for sensor drift:

5) On the TC, press FOV to select NFOV (NARO).

6) Select an object in the field of view, and adjust the payload so the
object is displayed in the center of the screen.

7) Wait 1 minute.

8) If, after 1 minute, the object is still displayed within the frame of the
screen, drift calibration is not required. Otherwise, perform drift
calibration in accordance with Joystick Calibration (Para. 4.1.3.2.2)
and Gyro Calibration (Para. 4.1.3.2.3).
