HUMAN SEXUALITY:

Sex makes the world go around: it makes babies bond, children giggle, adolescent flirt and
adults have babies it addressed in the holy books of the world’s great religions, and it
infiltrates every part of society. It influences the way we dress, joke and talk. In many sexes
defines who we are. Was said by Lucas and fox,2018

With this I would like to draw your attention to biological aspect of human sexuality.

To start with human sexuality is part of total personality, it involves the inter-relationship of
biological, psychological, socio-cultural dimensions. It also of our physical, emotional and
spiritual responses thoughts and feelings. Sexuality is about who you are attracted to sexually
and romantically (sexual orientation) homosexual, heterosexual, bisexual, asexual etc.

Reverend Sister Judith Magbity, HHCJ, made it clear to us that celibate person are
also sexual beings and celibate life is a per found and rewarding way of living. Sexuality has
both genital and affective dimension.

Secondly; socio-cultural dimension tells us that the sum of the cultural and
influences the affect our thought and action and sexual identities and experiences are
acquired from and influence and modified by an ever-changing social environment. People
acquired and get meanings skills and values from the people around and the media that
surround them.

Thirdly; in biological aspect of human sexuality, I also got to know that sexuality is not
just about sex. Although people often define sexuality in terms of genital, what we do with.
But is also the total of who with them and who we it with and is the total of who we are, what
we believe, what we feel, and how respond.

The way in which you been have cultured socialized and sexualized.

Lastly; biological sexuality also taught me that, the sign of a person relationship intimate
encounters expressed in the way they speak, smile, stand, sit, dress, dance, laugh, cry etc.
therefore, sexuality involves and is shaped many things including; attitude, valued and
believe, sexual characteristics, social expectation, experiences and physical attribute.

Here I will like to talk about psychological aspect also; By which our facilitator was
Revered Fr. George K. Kyeremeh, he began by saying, psychology is interested in how
sexuality affect psychological functions. Genetic and hormonal factors related sex and gender
influence brain development and organization as well as cognitive functions and abilities.
Sexuality related hormones affect physical and mental development, cognition, mood,
emotional responses, motivation, and behaviors. Gender is significantly involved in
determining sexual orientation and defining personality. Filling out a form or job application
requires your name, address, and birth-date. Additionally, applications usually ask for your
sex or gender.

It is common for us to use the terms ‘sex’ and gender inter-changeably. however, in modern
usage, these terms are distinct from one another.

Secondly; Fr. George, continued stated that, while some argue that sexual attraction is
primarily driven by reproduction [e.g. Geary, 1998] empirical studies point to pleasure as the
primary force behind our sex drive. For example, in a survey of college student who were
asked, “why do people have sex?” respondent gives more than two thirty unique responses,
most of which were related to pleasure rather than reproduction (meson and boss 2007).

Thirdly, during the lectures, I got to know that sexual arousal and responses are thought
created by our minds which constantly helping us to interpreted the world around us
describing what’s happening, and trying to make sense of it by happing us interpret event,
sight, sound, smells feelings. It’s just what the human mind does. Sexual arousal begins in
our minds.

To have a conscious experience of anything that associated sensation, no matter

how stimulated, must reach the brain in that sense human sexuality is very much like any of a
number of other forms of sensation and perception. Sensory receptor’s location in the skin of
the genitals become stimulated and messages are sent to the somatosensory Cortes of the
brain and to various pleasures centers in the limbic system. Other associated sensory inputs
also come into play various signs, sounds, smells, test, tactile. Stimulation of other area of the
body and are registered in other regions of the brain and cortex.

Father George again said that psychologically touching is the most basic of all senses. Skin
contains receptors for pleasure and pain, heat and cold, roughness and smoothness. It is a life
given force for infants. How and where a person is touch can suggest friendship intimacy,
love, all sexual interest. Culture also plays a role here.
Touching And Eroticism: sexual behavior relaxes above all else or touch. The touching of
self and others; the touching of hands, face, Chest, arms, necks, legs and genitals. By
touching the body becomes electrified. Erogenous zones; lips, mouth, tongue; male and
female nipples and breast, ears, neck, anus, and buttocks are all potentially sensitive to erotic
touch.

Fourthly, psychologically some people are mentally disorders that make them
attracted to the same sex such as gay, lesbian, transgender, etc. and also others to are attracted
to object which become the fetishist sexual symbols e.g., kissing shoes, caressing a glove,
masturbating with a piece of underwear.

Lastly, I would like to draw your attention to the meaning of human sexuality according
to the Catholic church. Love is a gift of God. Nourish by an expressed in the encounter of
man and woman. The use of sexuality, a physical given has its own truth and riches its full
meaning when is express the personal given of man and woman even unto death. Deep within
his conscience man discovers a law which he has laid upon himself but which he must obey.
For a man has in heart a law inscribed by God. His dignity lies in observing this law and by it
he will be judged …. (GS#16).

The traditional teaching of the church says that masturbation, homosexual

Bisexual, and asexual are gravely sinful affirmed, masturbation, homosexual, bisexual, and
asexual are intrinsically and gravely disordered actions. These lacks that sexual relationship
demanded by the moral order and in which “the total meaning of mutual self -giving and
human procreation in the context of through is achieved.

In conclusion; we read in (Romans 7) that, we must not forget our internal

struggle concupiscence and the grace of God. With this, one thing that touches me most after
the seminar which was said by our facilitator Rev. Father George K. Kyeremeh that “you do
not control what enters your mind from outside but you have the power to deal with it from
within. Do not let that power slip out of your hand. So, in order to move to maturation in
affective-sexual life, self-control is necessary, which presupposes such virtues as modesty,
temperance, respect for self and for others, openness to one’s neighbor because discipline is
the bridge between goals and accomplishment. we must all suffer from one of two things: the
pain of discipline or the pain of regret.
