My concept of self as a Filipino

INTRODUCTION

“The Filipino embraces civilization and lives and thrives in every clime, in contact with every
people.” A quote being said by our national hero, Dr. Jose P. Rizal exemplifies how a Filipino views
himself as somebody who is flexible and adaptive to certain changes in society. As for me, I always view
myself as a Filipino who is a religious, respectful, compassionate, and law-abiding citizen.

BODY

It has been no surprise that I am such a family-oriented person who adapts the religious practices
of my parents. As a matter of fact, I have been a faith-based person because of the influence of my parents
with the religion that we are following. As a devoted Christian, I have patterned my life to the Almighty
that we believe to be real and all that matters to me is to do His will.

As I have also adopted the unchanging values of respect and social grace, I have instilled into my
brain to be respectful at all times most especially to the elders. Certainly, I have been so courteous and
civil towards my deeds in dealing with anybody. I always consider practicing it by myself to perform such
polite actions to maintain gracious relationships with anyone I deal with. Regardless of race, age, and
social status, everyone deserves respect.

Undoubtedly, I have a very sympathetic character. I call myself someone who is full of
compassion for people who are in need. I love to share my blessings and show kindness to people I meet
who are helpless and needy. Surely, I just feel how amazing it is when you have been able to help
somebody and extend a hand with them.

Practically, I am really a great follower of the laws and I readily give in to the authorities. I have
always been a supportive person to a government that pushes laws that will bring betterment and
development to my country. Change is really constant and I have opened myself to submit to such
changes that will lead to my country’s progress and prosperity.

CONCLUSION

Definitely, being a Filipino is to cherish the pleasantry of social dealings and to be resilient to
preserve the unchanging values and virtues. I have embodied being a devoted Christian, polite, humane,
and an orderly person. These characters which I have cultured epitomize my concept of myself as a
Filipino.
