Maris Character in Cults of Greyhawk Campaign

One of Romag’s most valued agents in southern Verbobonc using the Sacred Stone Monestery as his
base of operations. Under orders from Romag he built a bandit training camp in a hidden vale
between the monastery and Feathergale Spire . Sometimes the Thurl Merosska 's Feathergale
Knights of Featherspire would get involved and cause problems. While in the air scouting they
watch the earth temples activities then join the raid. Take loot and prisoners while participating in
the fighting, sometimes killing earth temple cultists in the act which in Thurl's mind is the duty of
his knights to bring swift justice to the earth temples cultists. The Black Earth cultists are highly
suspicious of the Cult of Howling Hatred. They believe that the air cultists are mercurial, unreliable,
and generally out of touch with reality. Currently, Maris is tasked by Romag 's Earth temple plans
to discredit the Gnomes of Greenway Valley located in Tulvar . The mission is outlined in VER1-04
How Greenway Was My Valley with mercenaries recruited from Verbobonc and halforcs from Nulb.
The mission is to sow dissension between the gnomes of the Kron Hills and the Viscounty of
Verbobonc . The plan is to impersonate the gnomes and provoke a massacre, either of humans or
gnomes, it didn’t matter which.
He hired the half-orcs from Nulb and humans from Verbobonc then trained them at a camp in a
secluded valley far to the east between the Sacred Stone Monestery and Feathergale Spire . The
raiders will impersonate the gnomes because of the Scroll of Veil, which, through illusion, made
them appear to be a party of gnomes. The mission is to provoke a massacre, either of humans or
gnomes, it didn’t matter which. This raiders camp was chosen by him carefully as to keep it hidden
from the Mounted Borderers and other viscounty agents. Prime position to strike into the Kron
Hills along southern viscounty and into gnome territory. He blindfolded all the mercenaries

His fellow earth temple cultist agent Caidax Nightshade was sent by Romag from the main temple
equipped with the wand Senshock created. This is Romag's big plan in hopes to impress the
leadership of the greater temple and bring his rise to further power. The Half-orc Hrosh is from
Nulb in a tavern known as the 3. The Waterside Hostel . Romag has Senshock create the wand to
be used by Caidax Nightshade . He will take all captures supplies and prisoners after his raids to
the Sacred Stone Monestery secret underground tunnel to the lower levels. There, Qarbo will take
custody of prisoners and supplies required by the monastery. Then sort what is kept and what is
sent on to the Earth Temple at the main Temple of Elemental Evil .

He is a warrior first and foremost. He believes firmly that knowledge should be universal. He lacks
moral complications. He does what he is told to by employers but not much else. He spends his
money on whatever he fancies at the time.
