3.2. Description centrifuge and main components

The machine dries the product using the centrifugal principle. The excess moist/oil (and/or grease) is
separated from the product without damaging it. Afterwards the “dry” product will be transported out off
the machine so it can be processed further on.

Version: 1.0

3.2.1. Loading

The untreated products must be imported at the top of the centrifuge. The movable cone at the bottom
of the Wedge wire drum closes the centrifuge during the loading process.
It is recommended to rotate the Wedge wire drum at a low speed (± 60 Rpm.) during the loading
process so the product divides equally in the Wedge wire drum. This can be realized by connecting a
frequency-controlled motor to the drive shaft.

3.2.2. Drying

After the filling time expires, the product supply shall stop. The centrifuge accelerates the spin to its
preset value (see technical specification). The moist/oil (grease) will be withdrawn from the products
as a result of the centrifugal force of the centrifuge. A water disposal gutter transports the separated
moist out of the machine. Fluid filled air mounts absorb the vibrations of the centrifuge.

3.2.3. Unloading

The drum stops after the centrifuge time expires. A lifting arm will move the movable cone which is
connected to the upper frame. The movable cone goes down and the dry product drops out of the
bottom of the centrifuge so it can be processed further on.

Figure 4-6: Set-up centrifuge screen

Key Description
F1 At this position the speed of the buffer belt is to be set.
Buffer belt speed During centrifuge and product release of the product the buffer belt
(default 120 rpm) transports slowly in the opposite direction of the centrifuge in order to
store continues supply of product. The buffering speed of the buffer belt is
to be set at this position.
The optimal speed is dependent on the centrifuge time, brake time and
release time. The more time these actions take, the slower the buffering
speed of the buffer belt is to be set.
(Please note: Standard maximum is 999 rpm. At the filling of the
centrifuge the buffer belt transports towards the centrifuge at the
maximum speed.
This maximum speed is a fixed by Feltracon BV.)
F2 At this position the speed of the centrifuge during separation is to be set.
Centrifuge speed The maximum adjustable speed is set at 800 rpm.
(default 600 rpm)
F3 At this position the speed of the centrifuge during filling is to be set.
Filling speed The minimum adjustable speed is set at 40 rpm.
(default 60 RPM) The maximum adjustable speed is set at 150 rpm.
A low speed makes an equal load of the centrifuge optimal and minimize
damaging to the product.
F4 When the cone is opened the centrifuge rotates during the release time
Release speed part 1 part 1 at this adjustable speed.
(default 60 RPM) The minimum adjustable speed is set at 40 rpm.
The maximum adjustable speed is set at 150 rpm.
A low speed increase the effect of the air knife.

F5 When the release time part 1 has past, the centrifuge rotates during the
Release speed part 2 release time part 2 at this adjustable speed.
(default 100RPM) The minimum adjustable speed is set at 40 rpm.
The maximum adjustable speed is set at 150 rpm.
A bit higher speed then the first part is needed to whipped of some
product which is stocked at the cone.

F6 At this position the filling time of the centrifuge is to be set.

Filling time During this time the centrifuge spins slowly and the buffer belt transports
(default 8 sec) towards the centrifuge at the maximum speed.
The optimal filling time is dependent of the used length of the buffer belt.
The filling time is to set in a way the complete content of the buffer belt is
exactly emptied into the centrifuge.
(a to long time is at cost of production capacity.)
F7 At this position the time of the centrifuge running during separation is to be
Centrifuge time set.
(20 sec) The set time includes acceleration and spinning time. So the effective
separation time is the set time minus the time necessary for acceleration.
(Acceleration time is factory set inside the frequency controller.)
The optimal centrifuge time is dependent of the consistency of the product
and the demand for moist separation.
F8 At this position the release time part 1 of the centrifuge is to be set.
Release time part 1 After the brake timer and opening of the cone, this time starts. The
(default 4 sec) product will fall down and the air knife blows the product of the centrifuge
cage. Enter the time which will be need to clean the centrifuge cage
totally.
F9 At this position the release time part 2 of the centrifuge is to be set.
Release time part 2 After release time part 1 the cage will be clean but there can be still some
(default 2 sec) product on the cone. In this second release time and a higher release
speed the product will be whipped off.
F10 At this position extra up/down movements can be set.
Cone up/down With extra up/down movements sticky products will release better by
(0 times) means of the extra vibration caused by this movements.
F11 At this position a delay time for the centrifuge to start accelerate to
Delay time centrifuge speed.
(1 sec) This enables the last bit of product to tumble into the centrifuge cage.
F12 At this position the brake time (deceleration) of the centrifuge is to be set.
Brake time This enables the centrifuge to decelerate completely before the cone is
(6 sec min) opened.
The minimum time is set at 4 sec. It can happen, with heave product, a
worn brake etc, it is possible to set this timer to a longer time. Although
this will decrease the maximum capacity.
