DATA MANAGEMENT COORDINATOR WRITTEN TEST

Instruction: Answer ALL questions in all sections


The use of internet is strictly prohibited. Anyone found using the internet will be disqualified from
the interview process

Make sure that you are given TWO excel data sets to enable you respond to ALL questions in this written
test. Section A has 50 Marks while section B has 55 Marks

Time Allowed: 2 hours

SECTION A: Answer ALL questions in section A.


In the attached excel file there is data taken from a recent household survey that was conducted by ADRA
in March of this year. Please use the data in the excel sheet 1 to answer the following questions:
Question 1. a. Produce appropriate graphs/charts that demonstrate the following (15 Marks)
(i) The possible relationship (if any) between the marital status of the respondent and having a
household member into the VSL group.
(ii) The possible relationship (if any) between the sex of the respondent and having accessed a loan in
the past 12 Months.

(iii) The possible relationship (if any) between sex of the respondent and ownership of a cooking
stove.

Question 1.b. (15 Marks)-Using the same excel data set, calculate the following:
1) What is the average age of female respondents?
2) What percentage of male respondents are married?
3) What percentage of married women are the head of their household?
4) What percentage of male respondents own an energy saving cook stove?
5) Of the VSL members who have accessed a loan in the last 12 months, what percentage of these
members have used the loan for business.

Question 2. (20 Marks)

Underneath each of the four charts in the space below, please provide brief analysis, using the available
data, for inclusion in a quarterly report to the donor. In your analysis, please highlight any issues you
identify that would need further investigation and analysis. The report due date is one week from now. (5
Marks each)
