Student Journalist: Upholders of
the Youth’s Future
Our world is slowly
changing. The older
generation entrusted the
future in our hands. The
present is basically the
youth’s playground. It is our
calling to take over and make
a change. The world needs
courageous youth who have
the willingness to serve their
fellow colleagues not just
in campus, but the whole
nation. Thus, journalism is
the perfect field to find their
passion and contribute to
the society.
“Without Journalism, the
world is ignorant.” a quote
from Mr. Balobong. We
know that being a student
journalist already brings
a big contribution to the
community. However, have
you ever thought about the
essential qualities to become
good at it? Quoting Mr.
Balobong- we must deliver
factual information and
observe proper grammar and
syntax.

A journalist should
always be aware of the cur-
rent events and happenings,
not just in our country but
the entire world. They should
continuously state facts and
provide evidence. They are
observant and weigh situ-
ation critically instead of
being carried away by emo-
tions.
“Whatever you are
doing, do it with your heart”

ist, you must help the coun-
try in becoming a more pro-
gressive nation. Like the
famous quote by an English
author, the pen is mightier
than sword. Which means
the word is effective than vi-
olence towards shaping our
nation. We are the youth, the
upholders of the future. We
must practice the qualities
of being an ideal journalist to
save the future.

Many of us aspire to
become someone relevant
and contribute significance to
the world. Journalism is the
perfect field to achieve this.
But some of us are discour-
aged by the news spreading
around. The threat to silence
journalists and the inability to
cope from the lost years.
However, this shouldn’t
be the reason why we should
kill our passion to serve the
nation. As Mr. Balobong stat-
ed, “It starts with you”. Do not
be discouraged and distract-
ed by the news. Continue to
do your passion, and remem-
ber that whatever you are do-

Dr. Erwin T. Bulabog, a former school head of San
Juan National Highschool (the guest speaker). Dr. Erwin T.
Bulabog is a good looking man, decent, and talkative. He
has the ability to socialize other people nicely and formly.
Dr. Erwin T. Bulabog loves to read books and writing
articles. He was a journalist at his time, and he is now a
successful man and a head of one of the nicest schools,
San Juan National Highschool. An independent man with a
good heart, well-manered, patient, and an all-rounder. He
has a lot of contributions in journalism. Love what you do by your heart.

A Campus Journalist
On this day, this is my third experience participating a journalism. As you all know, I’ve been chosen to be in this cat-
egory (the collaborative desktop publishing). I was confused when they put me in this category because the journalism I used to
know was just an individual contest.
Being a newbie journalist when I was in Grade 6, it was an overwhelming experience, nervous, and a great opportunity to
have. At first, I was having a hard time to make an article, because it was my first time ever being a journalist.The second jour-
nalism I attended was when I was Grade 7, I was still having a hard time because I was not confident to write my own article, I
was only 14 that time, I was just a kid, not confident enough, I still didn’t have enough knowledge to write an article.
For me, being a journalist is both easy and hard at the same time. The fact that we can confidently, freely write what we
wanted to write and you can also be drained thinking what you will write or how you will write the article. Journalism is not
just about writing, but it is also about giving information to the readers.The audacity of writing facts with no fear of thinking.
As Dr. Erwin said,“Be a marites but a positive marites that will help build our nation”.

they need to lead their life, to make decisions in life. News is shared in
different things”.
Dr. Erwin T. Bulabog stated the good journalists’ essential quialities,
“First, error free or factual information. Second, through knowledge
(current events) background knowledge relies facts, evidence, not from
emotions. Third, investigative knowlegde and observant skills, strong,
analytical skills. Effective communication skills, taking control of a
situation. Professionalism and confidence (accept criticism eager to
enhance your skill). And lastly, persistent and discipline.”
He tackled about journalism, “Without journalism, the world is
ignorant. Everyone is a journalists nowadays. It starts with you, you have
to practice the qualities of a good journalist”.

Boxing: Entertaining

different forms, such as basket-
ball, volleybal and soccer.These
are just some of the most fa-
mous sports here in the philip-
pines, but there’s one particular
sport that is known here in the
phillipines. Which is the sport
of Boxing. Boxing is a type of
sport that contains two players.
In order to win, they must fight
eachother in a boxing ring and
the judges will give the score
to the boxers. They are twelve
round in each match, where ev-
ery round has two minutes.This
fun and exciting type of sport
also gives us benefits, such as
having a strong body and a
good physique. This can also
be used in other fields such as
self-defense against people who
seek danger. Involving one’s self
is a great way to practice on
honing one’s skills.

Babilla Jr., At the first minute of the
match, Bernardo Babilla were able
to dodge every jabs Lance Cotcahro
is giving him. Even with Bernardo
‘s quick dodges, Lance cotcharo still
,manage to give a clean punch giving
him the lead to 7-5. Bernado on the
other hand won’t go down without
a fight ,With Bernardo ‘s quick jabs
and dodges he manage to continous-
ly punch Lance Cotcharo,having the
score to a tie ,9-9.With only seconds
left ,Lance Cotcharo with his right
hook,lands a hit on Bernardo ,thus
ending the game to,10-9.

During the pandem-
ic, people isolate themselves in
order to protect each other from
the spread of a certain corona
virus known as the Covid-19.
Thus, it severely affected the
norms everyone used to know
as it changed the world’s pace
into a whole new flow of living,
providing negative effects spe-
cifically to the health of people.

competition?”he said “Oo , syempre
kay division kaya ni”.
It also affected the
sports that added an impact
to individuals’ emotional,
physical and mental health.
Therefore, are sports irrele-
vant to people? Can people
really survive without it? No,
that’s why people should al-
ways put in mind the impor-
tance of sports in maintaining
everybody’s health, making it
a part of everyone’s lifestyle
