America south America and southeast Asia Harvesting hearts

of palm as lead to massive deforestation so harvesting

hearts from single stemmed wild palm has been outlawed.

23

Today most heart of palm are cultivated from multi stemmed

palms in Costa Rica, Southeast Asia, and Amazon.

Food science has a growing literature about fruits

and vegetables imparting grater benefits to human.

Considerable epidemiological evidence suggest an

association between consumption of diet high in fruits and

vegetables and decreased risk of cardiovascular disease,

hypertension, diabetes, stroke and various forms of cancer

(Brandt et al.’ Craig’2019). Although consumed, they make a

with her colleagues, Elizabeth F. Smith are carrying out

studies to further explore the potentials of coconut palm.

With the funding support from Bureau of Agricultural

Research (BAR), DA-RFO 5 embarked on studies that will look

into the possible intervention to tap the benefits of

coconut palm of heart particularly as processed product.

25

In 2016 with funding support from BAR,DA-RFO 6

implemented the project, ”Production and technology

promotion on coconut palm of heart (cocos nucifera) the

project aimed to enhance the income of farmers through

utilization on coconut palm and develop new product for

commercialization. The following are Benefits you could get

from coconut palm of heart vegetable

1.Vitamins and Minerals

Hearts of palm are a good source of vitamin B6,

convenient way to increase the intake of vitamin B6 through

diet (Lechman, S., 2021).

Synthesis

A number of severe cases due to bacterial infection

were reported in the past few years and thus different type
28

of materials have been studied for their antibacterial

properties. Coconut palm none-particles have been in

interesting material for the biomedical field because it is

the unique source of various natural products for the

development of medicines against various disease and also

for the development of industrial products. The part of its

fruit like coconut kernel and tender coconut heart have

numerous medicinal properties such as antibacterial,

antifungal, antiviral, anti-parasitic.

Anti-dermatophytic, antioxidant, hypoglycemic, hepato-

protective and immune stimulate properly. Coconut heart and
