ENVISIONING A ROADMAP FOR EMBEDDING ONLINE MODULES

AND COURSES IN THE NSOU ECOSYSTEM

Mandate
To facilitate integration of Online Courses and Modules into the Open and Distance
Learning system

To facilitate compliance with the UGC (Open and Distance Learning Programmes and
Online Programmes) Regulations, 2020 and the UGC (Credit Framework for Online
Learning Courses through SWAYAM) Regulations 2021 in a phased manner

Objectives
To help the faculty in development & delivery of Online Modules as part of university
programmes and full-fledged Courses through

 adoption of the 4-quadrant instructional & pedagogic approach prescribed by


MoE (formerly MHRD) for MOOCs, consisting of e-Tutorial, e-Content, e-
Assessment and e-Discussion Forum
 an emphasis on online interactive transaction through use of e-resources

To help the institution create an environment for gradual migration to an effective Credit
Mobility system for facilitating inter-disciplinary exposure for students

SIX Schools—School of Sciences, School of Humanities, School of Social Sciences,
School of Education, School of Professional Studies, School of Vocational Studies

FOUR centres—Centre for Language Translation & Cultural Studies, Centre for Social
Studies, Centre for Disability Studies & Educational Research and Centre for Lifelong
Learning

Faculty & academic collaborators adept at giving av lectures and developing e-text as
part of ODL exercise

In-house Production & Post-production facilities


TRIPLE TASKS
To immediately facilitate enrichment of existing ODL programmes (at both Degree &
Diploma levels) by increasing Online modules compliant with the 2020 Regulations

To facilitate continuation of need-based online learning opportunities for professional


development and skill upgradation through non-credit awareness Programmes (at
Diploma level) making them compliant with the 2020 Regulations

To facilitate an environment for development, delivery and management of full-fledged


Online Degree with involvement of in-house faculty

STRATEGY
Faculty initiatives in restructuring the university’s LMS for implementing UGC (Open
and Distance Learning Programmes and Online Programmes) Regulations, 2020

Directors of the Schools to encourage increased engagement with Open Educational


Resources (OER) such as the SWAYAM platform

Robust online support for interactive teaching-learning with continuous engagement and
feedback from stakeholders (both synchronous & asynchronous)

Utilize the above experience to design and develop full-fledged Online Programmes
GOALS - 1
To help create benchmark for Online Modules under approved Courses aligned to
existing Programmes of the Schools by adopting parameters of the UGC (ODL
Programmes & Online Programmes) Regulations 2020

To encourage the Schools to increase the frequency of developing Online Modules under
different Courses by adopting the benchmark

To help the Schools adopt an intra-university credit mobility mechanism for NSOU
students from approved MOOCs delivered through SWAYAM as well as Online
Modules offered through the university platform

GOALS - 2
To help the Schools develop and offer full-fledged online Diploma Programmes regularly
besides continuing with existing Programmes in the ODL mode

To guide the Schools for developing full-fledged online Degree Programmes regularly
besides continuing with existing Programmes in the ODL mode

To facilitate creation of a mechanism for credit mobility transactions through the


Academic Bank of Credit for compliance with the UGC (Credit Framework for Online
Learning Courses through SWAYAM) Regulations 2021
