In my opinion, the U.S.

managed care approaches can be successfully implemented

internationally in the future after a few changes have been made and implemented. Managed care

has some advantages that make it worth implementing such as low costs for those who have

access, information moving rapidly within a network, and prescription management is much

easier with managed care. However, there are some disadvantages with managed care that would

make it difficult to implement it successfully internationally. For example, the rules of managed

care are extremely rigid, increased costs due to the network having unreasonable services being

offered by medical providers, and long wait times. There are so many changes that need to be

done so that the system can be accepted internationally. Furthermore, cultural and logistic

obstacles can make the implementation of U.S.-style managed care complex and costly in other

countries. however, a number of U.S. health maintenance organizations and executives are

actively seeking out opportunities, and some already have set up or acquired significant

insurance operations in other countries.
