Macroeconomics of
Value / Supply Chains

• This course discusses supply chains form a macroeconomic

perspective. Supply chains are the key factors in
demonstrating multiplicative effects of rising and falling of
companies’ activities according to final demand or structural
changes. Growing or decreasing sales or altering technologies
need more or less purchasing from others in every link, so the
stimulus goes through the whole supply chain, thus affects
output, incomes, employment, and other categories of
economic development of a region or a country.
• Students will gain an understanding of the principles of models
with which these effects can be calculated. They will also
become familiar with practical use of such models and be
able to interpret the results of their calculations, which can be
utilized for showing a company’s or a sector’s multiplicative
economic power, or for regional and macroeconomic
planning and controlling.
