Paramyxovirus, distemper, causes, symptoms, structure.

The disease is highly contagious and potentially fatal. Paramyxovirus, which causes canine
distemper, is closely related to measles and rinderpest viruses. It causes severe disease in
the host by attacking multiple body systems, resulting in widespread infection that is difficult
to treat [1].

The disease caused by animal paramyxoviruses depends in part on their tissue tropism: as
described below, some remain confined to the respiratory tract and cause disease there,
while others can spread through viremia to other tissues and cause disease, depending on
Sites of viral replication and transmission. Immunity to viruses whose pathogenesis is
implicated in viremia tends to be relatively strong and long-lived, possibly reflecting the
longer lifespan of serum antibody responses. For example, rinderpest virus, which was once
endemic on most continents, has been eradicated in Europe, the Americas and most of Asia.
It is only still popular in parts of Asia and Africa. In contrast, immunity to viruses that reside in
the airway surface epithelium, such as B. bovine parainfluenza virus 3 and respiratory
syncytial virus, is less potent and persistent, and reinfection is common [2].
