OBSERVATION

It has been observed that when the cement has mixed with more of cement and lesser agrregates, it will have more
strength than those mixed with higher aggregate content. With the given ratio that the group 5 conducted, at the first
7 days of curing has resulted of total compressive strength of 214.706psi at its first 7 days of curing and 237.717 at
14 days. While in the flexural strength created a 742 psi at first 7 days and ato 14 days had a flexural strength of 762
psi. The longer the days of curing will the concrete will be stronger.

CONCLUSION

ASTM C142 is a standard specification developed by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM)
for testing the consistency of fresh concrete. The purpose of the test is to determine the flow of fresh concrete,
which is an indicator of its workability and ability to be placed and consolidated properly in forms. We are
creating and mixing a retaining wall concrete with a 2900 Psi designation. For this, we have to use a 1,1.5,3,1
ratio of Cement, Fine Aggregate, Coarse Aggregate and water, respectively.

The test is performed by filling a cone-shaped mold with fresh concrete and then lifting the mold up and away
from the concrete. The resulting structure is measured and the distance from the top of the concrete to the
lowest point is used to calculate the flow of the concrete. The Slump Test came out as 50.8mm which was
within the 25mm-75mm range. This means that our concrete is right between the middle of the required
slump measurement.

The ASTM C142 standard provides specifications for the apparatus, procedure, and calculation of the test
results. The test results are used by concrete manufacturers, engineers, and contractors to determine the
suitability of concrete for specific applications and to make necessary adjustments to the mix design.

It is important to note that the test results obtained using ASTM C142 are only one factor that should be
considered in evaluating the overall performance of concrete. Other factors, such as strength, air content, and
water-cement ratio, should also be taken into account.

ASTM C31 is a standard specification developed by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) for
making and curing concrete test specimens in the laboratory. The purpose of the standard is to provide a
uniform procedure for making and curing concrete test specimens, which are used to determine the
properties of concrete, such as compressive strength, flexural strength, and permeability.

The standard covers the materials, apparatus, and procedures for making and curing concrete test specimens.
It provides specifications for the mix design, mixing and handling of concrete, molding of specimens, and
curing and storage conditions.

The test specimens are made using cylindrical or cubic molds and are cured in a controlled environment,
typically at a temperature of 73 ± 3°F (23 ± 1.7°C) and a relative humidity of 50 ± 5%. After curing, the
specimens are tested to determine their strength and other properties.

ASTM C31 is widely used in the construction industry as a reference standard for laboratory testing of
concrete. It is important to note that the results obtained using ASTM C31 are only one factor that should be
considered in evaluating the overall performance of concrete. Other factors, such as field conditions and
quality control, should also be taken into account.
