Part 1:
Examines business process and supporting processes using specific examples
evaluates the advantages and disadvantages of using application software for business process
Introduction:
In this Part 1, I am going to consider the ‘Business Process’ and ‘Supporting Processes’ along with their
examples. To know the Business process and supporting process in an organization I have shown the
data flow diagram to know the process properly. According to the Scenario, I am founder as well as
Business Analyst of Kalika IT Solutions, I should have knowledge about data and their types structured
data, unstructured data and semi-structured data. SO, I am going to consider the unstructured data and
semi-structured data. In last, I am going to consider the benefits and drawbacks of using application
software as a mechanism for business processing along with its advantages, disadvantages, benefits and
uses.
About Scenario
Suppose you own a Company, company can be of any types i.e. Manufacturing Company, IT Company,
and Airlines Company etc. You are founder as well as Business analyst of your company. Now, your
small company is experiencing tremendous growth and there are lots of data. Data can be structured,
semi structured and unstructured. Now, being business analyst you have to manage data using different
business intelligence tools so that you can take decision effectively. Furthermore, there may be a lots of
projects or tasks in your company. You may want to track records of every employee and progress of
projects and tasks. So, for this you need to develop Business Intelligence tools or application or
programs which can solve specific problem of your project.
But, before designing any tools / application / program, you may want to conduct small scale research
to identify other organizations that have used business intelligence to improve their operation. And, one
of the most important things is to determine whether your designed tools are user friendly or not. So,
you may need to customize that tool too.

Comparison between operational, tactical and strategic levels for supporting organizations
Fig: comparison between Strategic planning, Tactical Planning and Operational Planning
Strategic Planning
It is an organization process of defining its strategy, or direction and making decisions on allocating
its resources to pursue this strategy. It deals with the whole business, rather than just an isolated until,
with at least one following three key questions:
What do we do?
For whom do we do it?
How do we excel?
For example, the first and third questions are those that motivate an acquisition. Acquisitions are thus
strategic choices. Typically strategic choices look at 3 to 5 years, although some extend their vision to
20 years (long term). Because of the time horizon and the nature of the questions dealt, mishaps
potentially occurring during the execution of a strategic plan are afflicted by significant uncertainties
and may lie very remotely out of the control of management (war, geopolitical shocks, etc.). Those
mishaps, in conjunction to their potential consequences are called “strategic risks”. Untapped
Opportunities can also be seen as strategic risks, but in this post we will not analyze those upward-
risks aspects. (riskope.com, 2014)
Business 2019
Tactical Planning
“A short range planning emphasizing the current operations of various parts of the organization. Short
Range is generally defined as a period of time extending about one year or less in the future. Managers
use tactical planning to outline what the various parts of the organization must do for the organization
to be successful at some point one year or less into the future. Tactical plans are usually developed in
the areas of production, marketing, personnel, and finance and plant facilities. Because of the time
horizon and the nature of the questions dealt, mishaps potentially occurring during the execution of a
tactical plan should be covered by moderate uncertainties and may lie closer to the control of
management (next year shipping prices, energy consumption, but not a catastrophic black-out, etc.)
than strategic ones. Those mishaps, in conjunction to their potential consequences are called “tactical
risks”.” (riskope.com, 2014)
Operational Planning
It is the process of linking strategic goals and objectives to tactical goals and objectives. It describes
milestones, conditions for success and explains how, or what portion of, a strategic plan will be put
into operation during a given operational period.
An operational plan addresses four questions:
“Operational risks are those arising from the people, systems and processes through which a company
operates and can include other classes of risk, such as fraud, legal risks, physical or environmental
risks. Operational risk are those resulting from inadequate or failed internal processes, people and
systems, or from external events (man-made or natural hazards). A tailings dam failure, an open pit
slide, a black-out (man-made or natural external hazard), and explosion in a processing plant are all
operational hazards generating operational risks.” (riskope.com, 2014)

Business 2019
It let you easily view the best and worst-performing facets of your business, from products to
marketing campaigns to salespeople. You can view rankings across multiple dimensions and specify
various criteria to focus your results.
2. What-if Analysis:
If you’re curious about how a future decision will affect your business, you can run a “what-if
analysis using past data to predict the potential impacts. Tools for what-if analyses give you an
objective view of the risks and rewards involved in each potential decision, and allow you to plan
better for the future.
3. Executive Dashboards
Executive dashboards give your organization’s leaders a real-time overview of your business in the
form of graphs, charts, summaries and other information reports. They allow your company’s
executives to make smarter, faster and better decisions.
4. Geospatial Mapping
Applications using location intelligence can take your information and transform it into graphical
and cartographic representations, simplifying your geographical data. At a glance, judging which
regions are performing better than others — and which ones need particular attention — becomes
much easier.

Title
The perfect title for the report according to the scenario is “Business intelligence and its tools” which
is very suitable for doing research and prepare report on it.
Introduction
In this Part 3, I am going to determine or establish the meaning of business intelligence and the concept.
To understand the business intelligence properly I have given specific examples also listed with the
tools and techniques which are associated with it. I have designed business intelligence apps which
can perform specific task to support problem solving or decision making for organization. I have
designed in such way that the every employee can control and operate it properly. It is also user friendly
and has a function ability. I have also described about the critical review of design given by the
employee. Business intelligence tools can contribute to effective decision-making process.

The legal issues involved in the secure exploitation of business intelligence tools. Small survey should
be done for identify specific examples of organizations that have used business intelligence tools to
enhance or improve their operations. Organizations could use business intelligence to extend their
target audience.
Business Intelligence
“It is a technology-driven process for analyzing data and presenting actionable information to help
executives, manager and other and corporate end user make informed business decisions. BI
encompasses a wide variety of tools, applications and methodologies that enable organizations to
collect data from internal systems and external sources, prepare it for analysis, develop and run queries
Against that data and create reports, dashboards and data visualizations to make the analytical results
available corporate decision-makers, as well as operational workers.” (Rouse, 2019)
To improve Visibility
If you want to improve your control over various important processes in your organizations,
you should consider investing in a good business intelligence system. Business intelligence
software will improve the visibility

A specific example for the concept of Business Intelligence with its reference
They prevent you from drowning in data
The fact is, without business intelligence, you risk the very real possibility of drowning the
data. According to Cloud Tweaks in 2015 “there were 2.5 quintillion bytes of data produced
daily. Do you know how much a quintillion is? It’s a 2.5 followed by 18 zeros. We have already
entered the Zettabyte era, also mentioned as one of our tech buzzwords for 2019, and for scale,
in 2012, the entire Internet only contained ½ of one zettabyte in data.”

“Depending on how you see it, this incredible amount of data is either a huge headache or the world’s
greatest opportunity. On the one hand, there’s more possible useful information points out there than
ever before. But, on the other hand, there’s much more noise standing in the way of you finding that
useful signal than ever before.” (Durcevic, 2019)

example, are sales going up, down or holding steady? When looking at more than one
dimension of the data, this becomes even harder. Hence the visualization of data is a convenient
2) Data mining
“It is a computer supported method to reveal previously unknown or unnoticed relations among
data entities. Data mining techniques are used in a myriad of ways: shopping basket analysis,
measurement of products consumer buy together in order to promote other products: in the
banking sector, client risk assessment is used to evaluate whether the client is likely to pay back
the loan based on historical data: in the insurance sector, fraud detection based on behavioral
And historical data: in medicine and health, analysis of complications and or common diseases
may help to reduce the risk of cross infections.” (dataintegration.info, 2018)
3) Reporting
“Design, Schedule and generation of the performance, sales, reconciliation and savings reports
is an area where BI tools help business users. Reports output by BI tools efficiently gather and
present information to support the management, planning and decision making process. Once

required form presenting daily/ weekly/ monthly statistics.” (dataintegration.info, 2018)
4) Statistical Analysis:
“It uses the mathematic foundations to qualify the significance and reliability of the observed
relations. The most interesting features are distribution analysis, confidence intervals (for
example for changes in user behaviors, etc.). Statistical analysis is used for devising and
analyzing the results from data mining.” (dataintegration.info, 2018)

1) Create realistic targets: “market analysis which ignores internal factors will not deliver results
for the company. In this scenario, a business leader will question why his or her business has
had little growth if the sector has done well overall. To help a company establish efficient
targets, business intelligence reports that takes into consideration your business’s real situation,
giving the entrepreneur the chance to prepare the company for the current market scenario.”
2) Take advantage of transparent data: “credibility attracts investors and ensures solidity for
any company, but to establish this, it’s very important that the organization receives reliable
data. It is automated systems, considerably diminishes the risk of human error and fraud in the
generation of information, giving credibility in the eyes of decision makers and leading to a
more reliable and prosperous company environment. This information can ensure that the
subordinates will have confidence in their leaders’ judgment when faced with complex
decisions, because these leaders will be able to convince them that these decisions are
necessary.” (myabam.com, 2019)
3) Foreseeing trends: “it monitors a company’s processes, can offer a forecast of market trends.
This is because this data is analyzed together with a collection of information, including market
data. The business can foresee, for example, the need to invest in the hiring of employees,
because it already has information that includes a forecast of an increases in sales.”

While business intelligence is very useful in company data organization, you need to be very cautious
about using this technology. Contrary to what many people say, BI cannot and should not be viewed
as the only analytical technology available in organizations because, despite its efficiency, it can
provide misleading data for decision making. A deep analysis of the data origin is essential before
making decisions based on what the business intelligence presents. Information on costs, expenses and
their impact on processes, products, services, channels and customers are good example for
information that is not available in organizations.
“The Trojans and don’t let that horse through your business’s front door until it has been

decreased sales numbers, about to merge, or outsourcing with competitors at lower prices.
Outside of in-depth business intelligence, there are many other things to look for in a company
to evaluate its health. This research will be easier if the company is publicly traded, if not,
you’re up to your own devices. If you’re part of a sales team, it’s a very good idea to do business
research to personalize a sales strategy, not only will you be more prepared for their objections,
but you will appear more genuine in understanding the obstacles this company will have to
overcome to move forward with the sale. Your sales team should have a long checklist of
things to look for, to see if a company is a good candidate for a sale. The more things on the
checklist that match up, the more ammunition you have from your business intelligence you
can use to help them understand how great of a candidate they are.” (Boyd, 2019)
Conclusion
I have determine or establish the meaning of business intelligence and the concept. To understand the

discussed with examples. The legal issues for securing the business intelligence tools is determined.
Securing data from hackers and company are liable to customer if data are loss are the main points in
securing exploitation. A survey has been done for the company in which we know that the business
company use what type of business tools, how it is reliable, performance etc. we have known from he
given points that the organizations had used business intelligence to extend their target audience and
know the customer policy.
