Risk Modeling, Assessment, The basic aim of the course is ● Available only for Erasmus+ students 7 Spring
and Management theoretical upgrading of the knowledge
of general traffic safety, integral traffic
safety of all transport technologies.
The aim for students is to understand
the usability and application of risk
management models in transport and
other systems.
Transport and environment Students will get some basics about ● Available only for Erasmus+ students Autumn
pollution of the environment, with an
emphasis on traffic pollution. Majority
of the subject content will be devoted
to air and sea pollution, consequences
of traffic and transportation activities
and measures for pollution reduction.
The course will also include topics
about toxicity and risk assessment,
international standards, regulations
and programs of pollution control and
models of pollution distribution and
spreading. Water pollution in the Gulf
of Trieste, with special reference to the
impact of traffic, will be presented as a
case study. Practical part of the course
consists of seminar work and
consultations.
Methodology of planning maritime The aim of the course Methodology of ● Available only for Erasmus+ students
and transport systems planning maritime and transport
systems is to build on the basic
knowledge and understanding of the
concepts of the methodology of
scientific research work, preparation of
articles, seminars and reports. With the
introduction to system theory, students
will explore the maritime and transport
system’s theory. They will learn how to
prepare a transport strategy and what
are the methods used in planning and
preparation of the strategy.
Maritime logistics The course will cover recent research ● Available only for Erasmus+ students
on the structure and analysis of
maritime transport. The focus will be
on the ports as a member of the
logistics chain and in the geography
and maritime trade. The class will
explore the steps in planning and
construction of ports. Students will
understand the processes in ports,
cooperation and competition between
ports, importance of connection with
the hinterland and the Dry port
concept. The course is very practically
oriented; the students learn how to
work with computer simulations using
Flexsim CT software and they will
construct a container terminal. This
promotes collaborative learning, use of
imagination and creativity of individual
student.
Business and Economic Analytics Students will develop the ability to ● Available only for Erasmus+ students
understand and analyse the
macroeconomic factors that can
influence business decisions and learn
the methods of cost controlling and
financial plan preparation in the
company. They will be able to interpret
the company's financial reports,
identify influential external factors, and
assess challenges or threats to the
company. By the end of the course,
they will master descriptive analytics,
predictive analytics, and prescriptive
analytics.
Modern transport technology The subject includes: theoretical basis ● Available only for Erasmus+ 7 Autumn
of transport technologies, requirements students
and operation of complex transport
chains, integration of transport
technologies into a unified
technological process, optimization
basis of transport technologies,
development and implementation of
new technologies, development and
operation of entities in complex
transport chains, sustainable aspect of
transport technologies.
Naval Hydromechanics The course aims to introduce the Available only for Erasmus+ students 6 Autumn
concepts of naval hydromechanics.
The course will cover ship resistance,
ship propulsion and the basics of fluid
dynamics with free surface effect. At
the end students will be able to
calculate the ship resistance and
design the proper propulsion unit. In
the course the boundary element
method (BEM) will be introduced as
the solution method for the ideal fluid
flow around the advancing floating
body including free surface boundary
effects.
