It is the story of the two nations who gained independence at the same time

but their present conditions are diametrically opposite. One nation is India
which has achieved astonishing economic growth. And the other is
Pakistan which has taken multiple IMF bailouts to save its economy from
collapsing. The story of both nations portrays a different picture because
one nation achieved Political stability, very early after independence while
the other is still mired in Political instability. Pakistan took almost nine years
to frame its first constitution. Pakistan chose democracy as a form of
government but it did not last due to conflicts among political leaders. As a
result, the military took over the space left by democracy in Pakistan. This
story continued till 2008 when the first civilian government was elected
which completed its tenure. The successful transition of power in the 2013
election from one government to other was hoped to be the first step
toward achieving Political stability. But all the hopes proved vain when the
Politics of people turned into the politics of political victimization. Every
government that came to power chose authoritarian tactics to curb
opposition parties and media. Further, the intervention of non-democratic
forces did not stop and derailed the democratic process. The Political
parties have turned into enemies of each other. The state institutions are
used for Political and personal purposes. The road to Political stability is
under a serious threat in Pakistan. As a result, Pakistan has been unable to
move forward and achieve prosperity. To conclude, it can be said that
Political instability is the primary reason for the socioeconomic problems of
Pakistan. Pakistan is plagued by weak democracy, disunity, and
institutional demise. Therefore, stakeholders need to take measures to
evade the abyss of Political Instability.
