    APOC 101 ASSIGNMENT 1: ALDOL REACTIONS AND POLYMERS (45 marks)

    PART A: Aldol Reactions (15 marks)


    Introduction: What it is? Characteristics, properties, uses and general reaction scheme.

    Main Content: reaction mechanisms uses 2 examples for the synthesis.

    PART B: Polymers (20 marks)


    Introduction: what are polymers? Their types, their application industrially with examples,
    characteristics and properties.

    Main Content: Differentiate between organic and synthetic polymers give examples. Show
    different types of polymerization techniques or methods (include building block monomers that
    produce a certain polymer in your examples). 2 examples each of copolymers and
    homopolymers.
    References: Use DUT Havard style of referencing (Library and writing centre department will
    help you with this) (5 marks)
    Overall report impression: 5 marks
    NB: Include the plagiarism sheet attached as your cover letter, sign it and submit it together
    with the Turnitin report of plagiarism of not more than 25%. (Subject librarian will assist you
    in registering for Turnitin.
