1
General:

1. This is a GROUP assignment. The group should comprise maximum of eight students
and a minimum of six students.

2. You are required to attach an Assignment Cover (see page 7), duly completed, to
your written assignment.

3. Any sources that you consult must be appropriately acknowledged and appear as both
in-text and bibliographical references. Plagiarism is a serious offence, and any group
that plagiarizes another group s or person s work (including that downloaded from the
internet) will be dealt with in terms of the DUT Plagiarism Policy.

4. Referencing must be in terms of the DUT Harvard Referencing Method. Information in

this regard is available in your Student Guide, at the DUT libraries, and on the DUT
website.

5. As students are being prepared for the world of work, this assignment should be
presented in a manner that would be expected of employees in the workplace in
other words it must be professionally presented. Marks are being allocated for this
aspect of the assignment.

6. Group leaders must submit their group s group assignment in digital format (MS-Word)
first through Turnitin and then uploaded onto Moodle. If you do not follow this
requirement the assignments will be returned to you and will not be marked until
it is submitted in the correct format.

7. If the work is not submitted by the due date, 10% will be deducted for each day that the
assignment is overdue. For example, if the assignment is submitted two days after the
due date, then 20% will be deducted from the mark awarded for the assignment.

Reminder on how to reference:

In-text is in the body of the document where you acknowledge somebody else s words or
ideas e.g. According to Botha & Bothma (2015:48) . If you are quoting their words
directly then put those in inverted commas; for example: trust is an issue in online
shopping .

The same work in the bibliography/reference list (that should be in alphabetical order)
would appear as follows:

Botha, J. & Bothma, C. 2015: Managing e-Commerce in Business. 3rd edition. Cape Town:
Juta.

More information about how to reference appears on the DUT Library website.

Remember, in terms of the DUT Plagiarism Policy, for a first offence, up to

50% can be deducted for plagiarism.
