Clean water is life

Is there anything more essential for sustaining ecosystems and life itself than water? Water
pollution is one of the most serious ecological threats we face today. Due to irresponsible human activity,
household garbage and a lot of industrial toxic waste is thrown into rivers. Thus, people cannot take
advantage of living near a lake, they cannot even swim or drink because of the oil spills. The point is that
life depends on water, so authorities and citizens need to find solutions to stop the contamination of rivers
and lakes.
The situation can be improved by organizing a clean-up campaign when self-conscious people
collect rubbish, clean up the water, put out more bins to prevent people from dumping their rubbish in the
ponds. As a result, volunteers, having experienced the hard work, would think twice about what they do
with their rubbish, so there would be less litter in the water.
Another useful suggestion would be to introduce rules and fines for factories that discharge their
waste into the water. If factories do not want to install filter equipment, they should be forced to pay an
extra tax. In this way, water pollution will decrease, and our rivers will be cleaner.
One final suggestion to support the health of local water resources is to reduce the use of pesticides
and fertilizers. Consequently, fewer chemical substances will be released into watercourses during rainfall
and the water remains consumable.
All things considered, clean water is essential to the health of communities. That’s why it’s so
important for people and factories to work together to preserve our precious water resources through
cleaning campaigns and environmental awareness to give our grandchildren the opportunity to swim and
use the water again.
