 Differentiate Complex Sentence and Compound-Complex Sentence.

Complex Sentence
Complex Sentence is a sentence with one independent
clause and one dependent clause.

(1IC + 1DC = Complex Sentence)


Example:
Although I’m not very good, I really enjoy playing
football.

(1IC + 1DC = Complex Sentence)


1. They can go, wherever they want.
2. I won’t go to the party though I was invited.
3. I will go to the cinema only if it rains tomorrow.

Compound-Complex Sentence
Compound-Complex Sentence is a sentence that
contains at least two independent clauses and one
dependent clause

(2IC + 1DC = Compound-Complex Sentence)

Example:

While Tom reads novels, Jack reads comics, but Sam


reads only magazines.

(2IC + 1DC = Compound-Complex Sentence)


1. Because I worked hard, I won in the singing
contest and I was so joyful.
2. Though my brother doesn’t agree, I am tall and
he is short.
