LESSON PLAN MATH VI

I. OBJECTIVE:
At the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
a. define Polygons;
b. name different kinds of Polygons; and
c. draw and identify polygons according to the number of sides.

II. SUBJECT MATTER:

A. TOPIC: Reviewing Polygons
B. REFERENCE: Mathematics in Everyday Life textbook for Grade 6, pages 170-171
C. MATERIALS: White Board Marker, Grade 6 Mathematics Book, Flash cards, Scotch
tape, manila paper, and cut outs of different types of Polygons.

III. PROCEDURE:

A. ROUTINARY ACTIVITY
- Greetings between teacher and students.
- Checking of attendance

B. MOTIVATION
Group Activity: The class will be divided into two groups by the teacher. Each group will
be given with materials prepared beforehand. The two groups will be given three minutes
to complete the task. The group who gets the highest correct answer will win. The group
with the least score will be facing a consequence which is a “butt spell”. They will spell a
name of a polygon together with its shape.

This is a sample of the cut outs to be given Correct answer

to the groups:
C. PRESENTATION
Teacher commends all the efforts given by all participants. The teacher will proceed at
giving the correct answers while giving a review about POLYGONS.

Teacher tapes the visual aid prepared which is written on a manila paper. Written on the
manila paper would be the definition of Polygon and its types. (page 170-171)

Polygons are closed figures formed by line segments which meet only at their end points.
D. APPLICATION
Individual activity:
Teacher asks students to bring out a 1/4 sheet of paper. Then, ask them to write the
polygon-shaped things in the classroom. After that, teacher will collect the papers.
Teacher randomly picks 2 piece of papers. Teacher will read the answer of the first one
and the owner of the other paper will name what kind of polygon was the thing said.
Example: 8 sided clock = octagon

IV. EVALUATION
Teacher will give a quiz which will be written on a whole sheet of paper. The quiz the
students will be on a manila paper which will be posted on the board.
